The above intelligence was brought to Savannah, by the steam packet Florida, and the editor of the Georgian says—“We learn verbally that twelve hun dred warriors have assembled, and are determined to attack Fort King. Gen. Clinch has, it Is said, a force of Regulars and Volunteer Militia, amounting to one thousand.. will aid them to defeat it. We had, last evening, in the Senate. A hill was introduced by the Sc rogatLV of country; upon which the War Horse of Troup raised the steam—ho not only preach ed tlio funeral of Steam Doctors, hut by his rant and goslicnlation, lie soon gathered a j multitude whom he amused by the relation of his many vulgar and obscene anecdotes. The Senate of Georgia was really degraded, &. it was matter of deep humiliation • and regret, thatthc Presiding officer of tiiat body, should have suffered the dignity of the Senate to be so com pletely prostituted. The Legislature will pro bably not adjourn till Tuesday or Wednesday next. MEETING OF UNION REPRESEN TATIVES IN MILLEDGEVILLE. December, 15, 1835. At a meeting of the Union Party, held at Buffington's Hotel, agreeably to previous not ice, on motion of Mr Crowell of Crawford, Ma). Jacob Wood, of the county of McIntosh, was railed to the clmir; and on motion of Gen. Walker of Richmond, Burton Hepburn, Esq. of tlio county of Muscogee, was appointed Sec retary. On motion of Gen. Walker, the secretary proceeded to call the roll of the Union mem bers of the legislature ; whereupon it was found 1 that a majority of the Union members afore said, & eacli Branch of the General Assembly, was present. Mr. Jon.v Howard Paj.ve, who, together with John Ross, the Cherokee, Chief, was lately seized at the house of the latter by the Georgia Guard, Itas availed himself of the oc casion to inflict upon the public eight mortal columns of the dullest, most fatiguing narrative it was ever our fortune to encounter. A con cise statement of the principal facts connected with the outrage, if given in about half a co lumn of an ordinary newspaper, would have been read with interest; hut to wade through this mass of verbiage merely to learn that Messrs. Ross and Payne were seized by a party of desppradoes, called the Georgia Guard, carried over the Georgia line, kept under dti ress for a day or two and then released, would he paving quite too much for the whistle. If Mr. Pavnc succeeds in making his intended “literary periodical” as uninteresting as he has this account of his capture, it will certainly be a very remarkable toork—Nash. Ban. From Texas.—A gentleman from Texas states, that before lie left on the 25th, Cos had not surrendered, but the garrison was reduced to the necessity of eating their mules. The soldiers and inhabitants were leaving the place to avoid starvation, and about 200 Mexican soldiers, chiefly deserters, were then in the Texas company.
