Old Thirty-sis is fairly run, And Thirty-seven’s just begun, When little carrier boys, like me, Would like to have a New Year’s fee; So patrons kind, don't say me nay, But give a gift for New Year’s day. Through ev’ry weather, dry and wet, The carrier boy your wishes met, By leaving at the 'pointed place, A sheet wherein you each might trace, The various news of passing times, From distant lands and distant clinics. We’ve faithful been to trace our own ; To you we’ve ever justly shown Whatc’er was worthy of record; What to condemn and what reward; And will continue still to use Our privilege, tho’ not abuse.
