I embrace tins opportunity for stating to you the great relief
I obtained from tile use of your Sarsaparilla. Isball also
be happy, through you, to publish to all who are afilicted,
as I lately was, the account of my unexpected, nnd even for
a long time despaired of cure. Mine is a painful story, and
trying and sickening as is the narrative of it. for the sake of
many who may he so surely relieved, I will briefly yet ac
curately etate’it.
Nineteen yearsngo last April, a fit of sickness left me with
an Erysipelas eruption. Dropsical collections immediately
took place over the entire suifaceofmy body, causing such
an enlargement that it was necessary to add a yard to my
dresses around the waist. Next followed upon my limbs,
ulcers painful beyond description. For years, both'in sum
mer and winter, the only mitigation of my sufferings was
found in pouring upon those parts cold water. From my
limbs the pain extended over my whole body—there was
literally lor me no rest, by day or by night. Upon lying
down, these pairfs would shoot through my system and com
pel metu arise, and for hours together, walk the house, so
that 1 was almost emirefy deprived of sleep. During this
time the Erysipelas continued active, and the ulcers enlar
ged, and so deeply have these eaten, that for two and a half
yearsthey have been subject to bleeding. During these al
most twenty year* I hare consulted many physicians. These
have called my disease—as it was attended with an obstinate
cough and a steady and active pain in my side—a dropsical
consumpsiun; and though they have been skilful practition
ers, they were only able to afford iny ease a partial and tem
porary relief. I had many other difficulties too complica
ted to describe. I have also used many of the medicines
that have been recommended as infallible cures for this dis
ease, yet these all failed, and 1 was raqst emphatically
growing worse. Iu this critical condition, given up by friends
and expecting for myself relief only in death, I was by the

Dr M. S. Thomson:
Dear Sir—I am happy to be able to inform you that tie
health of my negro woman Roda. since she left you has been
steadily improving, till now I consider it nearly re-estab
lished. ‘ Not having seen her while with you in Macon, I
was but little prepared to witness, without astonishment, the
great change tlj^t had taken place in her appearance, for in
stead of the thin, ematiated and broken down person that I
sent you, she returned abo it the best looking negro upon
the plantation. When she left here I would have taken a
ten dollar bill for her, now the is worth fifty times that much.
I am also happy to inform you that I have never had the
least return of any of the symptoms of that distressing com
plaint of which you so unexpectedly cured me three scare
a q°» after Drs. Slappev, Dupree.Tomblin & Gumming,four
of the most eminent of tlie faculty in t«ese parts, bad failed,
and the complaint had run on me for upwards o$ fifteen
years. I confess that when you said you thought you eotild
cure me I had very little faith, but now am convinced most
thoroughly that their failure to cure disease is no good rea
lly such disease should be pronounced incurable; and
so convinced that complaints even of long standing may
be finally ©radicated, if the use of proper remedies is* re
sorted to; it has at least been so it. mv cjim*. nnd as I am in
different as to who knows it, I w ill, for the benefit of dies©
similarly afflicted state that mv complaint wasg/o/.andam
rell assured that tlie publication of this fact, should you
think it proper, would carrv iov to the hearts of many now
hopeless of relief, by pointing them to where tney may ob
tain a remedy.
Wishing you every success in your laudable efforts to*
advance the standard of true medical science, I subscribe
myself youra with every sentiment of respect.

which he was unable to walk or even stand, and when lor-

neither sit nor stand, and with difficulty lie down, during
which time I found nothing that could benefit me, till 1 np*

About 6 months ago I was violently attacked with acute
rheumatism, the pain pf which was so excruciating that I
could neither get in or out of bed. or even i ndress mvselt

child. I was treated by one of the best mineral Physicians
in the city, but without apparent benefit, for I continued to

than 1 had enjoved in eighteen months.
