COMBINE OF THE BALT MEN.
A Claim that They Will Depend on
Keduced Expenses for Profits.
Toledo, O, April 22.—The Blade will
>;a* this evening on most unimpeachable
authority that Wellington R. Burt of
Saginaw, president ft the Michigan Balt
Association, sails on Wednesday next for
f- outh Hampton on the North German
1 yd steamer on a mission, the result of
which will be felt from one end of the
Vnited States to the nother. He gees to
secure e 10,000,000 by moans of which, with
i e pool allendy formod in this country,
*1,.. entire salt product of tho United States
w iil he controlled by a syndicate of which
p,‘‘will be the head. The English capital
ists who have operated tho salt trust in
Great Britain are interested in this project,
ti e details of which have all been arranged,
an d which will all be settled by Mr. Burt
during his brief visit to England.
MATURE OF THE DEAL.
Tha gigantic business combination is not
to be a salt trust in the usual acceptance of
„he word, although in many of its features
jt resembles one. It is simply applying to
the entire salt industry of the United States
ti e same principles that from time to time
l ave been used in the great salt-producing
s( , o tioo of the Saginaw valley. Each dis
trict will produce the usual quantity of salt,
aud will report to headquarters constantly
the amount of stock on band.. The head
quarters will make the sales and see that
tfoe stuff is shipped in the most economical
manner. For instance, orders from the
country tributary to Syracuse will be filled
from that city, instead of tho Michigan peo
ple selling there as they do now. Kansas and
other states thereabout will be supplied
from Kansas instead of from Michigan or
New York, and tho Kansas people will not
undertake to supply Ohio and Michigan, as
is now the case. It is estimated that in
this way there will be saved in the operat
ing expenses of the business at least
tT.dO.OOO a year even at the present ridicu
lously low price of salt. It is not the pur
pose of tho proposed syndicate to go into
the matter with the intention of forcing up
the price of salt. There will be no neces
sity for any such action and with the busi
ness management consolidated and con
centrated tue saving in th 9 operating ex
penses will yield a comfortable return of
itself.

How’s
Your Liver?
Is the Oriental salutation,
knowing that good health
cannot exist without a
healthy Liver. When the
Liver is torpid the Bow
els are sluggish and con
stipated, the food lies
in the stomach undi

blood; frequent headache
ensues; a feeling of lassi
tude, despondency and
nervousness indicate how
the whole system is de
ranged. Simmons Liver

means of restoring more

a healthy Liver than any

It acts with extraor
