Jordan, traveling freight and passenger agent of the Savannah, Florida and Western railway, is here. Charleston is soon to have another rail road, or rather one that will serve as a feeder, despite the fact that it will not reach the city proper. It is proposed to organize, within the next two weeks, the Walterboro and Yemasseo Railroad Com pany. The citizens of Walter!) >ro and the fanners and property-holders along the line of the road have determined to have an outlet which will have as its auxiliary the South Carolina railway, that will be tapped at Pregna'l's by the now railroad. Among the charter members of the company are moneyed men of Walterb iro and large land holders in Colleton county. AT THP, COURTS. Gossip Picked Up Hera and Thers in the Court Rooms. The Mutual Electric Light Company of Savannah was granted a charter of incor poration in the superior oourt yesterday. Tho ebjact and plans of theoumpauy, which is to be an auxiliary of the Mutual Gas Light Company, were fully detailed in the Morning News when the petition of incor poration was filed in the c iurt. In the case of the executors of James J. Waring et al., complainants, and the Mayor and Aldermen of Savannah, an order of the court was rendered, granting the peti tion of the defendants for anew trial. Plaintiffs sought to restrain tho city, by a bill in equity, from collecting taxes on the disputed estaie in the southeastern part of the city. It is believed that a consent de cree will be taken to-morrow. On the call of tho docket in the superior court yesterday, about one dozen eases w< re dismissed "from tho docket, and tho re maining cazea were continued for the term. The court stated that he will certainly ad j urn court the latter part of the wees, and suggested that counsel be iu readiness dur ing the woek with their motious and bills of exceptions to facilitate the work of the term. Dan Robers was fined ?!0 or twenty days in the mayor’s court yesterday morning, for using an Alabama sling in the streets. Amos Butler and Ben Lumkins for fighting on tho Ocean steamship wharves, a§d Elia Coles for disorderly conduct were each fined $3 or five days. All the parties are colored. THE COLORED MILITARY. Augusta Troops to Parade with the First Battalion. The Augusta Cadets, Capt. F. T. Tolbert, will arrive in the city to-night at 7:30 o’clock on the Charleston and Savannah railroad. They wdU be met at the depot by the Lone Star Cadets, whose gueuts they will bo, and by detachments of the other military companies, and will be escorted to the armory on Duffy street where they will be entertained. The visitors will parade with the First battalion Georgia volunteers to-morrow morning at 8 o’clock, it being the battalion’s anniversary. The troops with thoir friends will then go on an excursion to Tybee at 9:30 o’clock, where they will have a prize drill and shooting contest. THE PICKPOCKET''S FATE. He Played an Old Manat Coney Island and Got Hair Dye Dodgers. From the Kew York Sun. One of the excursionists standing at Brigh ton beach the other day seemed exactly fitted to the term “green as grass.” He was an oldish man, with the scent of burdocks in his clothes, and'as he moved around he left a trail of hayiaasrt behind him. He had no sooner left the train than lie approached a young rnan who was negligently leauing against a post at the entrance to the depot and said: “By gum! but this is nice. I’ve got away for a day, and I’m going right in and have a slashing good time." “That’s right, uncle,” kindly replied the young man; ••that’s what we come here for —to enjoy our .-owes. It takes money, though.” “You bet it does, lmt I’ve got the rhino right in my clot es. Bln savin’ up for eight months. I’m jest goiu’ right in regardless of expense. Look-a-here!” He pulle 1 a fat wallet from his hind pocket and patted it affectionately, and con fidentially whispered: “R-h-i-n-o, rhino! Come aud have a drink of Bassaparilly and some icecream.” The two were soon fast friends. Several philanthropists sought to signal tiie old man that he was in tow of a pickpocket, but he was oblivious. The young man “steered” him from place to place, paying for soda water, ginger ole and peanuts in the most liberal mauuer, but somehow every time he attemp.od to go down into that hind pockol, tho hind pocket wasn’t there. After three hours’ hard and persevering work he finally got his fingers on the wallet and quickly transferred it. Then ha sud denly announcod: “Bay! You wait right here a minute. Tlioie’s a party out there I want to speak to.” “All right,” responded hayseed, looking uo from his ice cream, “but don’t be gone long. I’ma-having the g ish-durueJes. best time iu my life, and I don’t want nuthin’ to happen." Something did happen, however. The young man did not return. Several hours later old hayseed went up to Manhattan Boach and found him sitting on a bench gazing pensively out to sea. “’Scuse me.” ha said, “but if it’s tho stomach ache, I’ve got a phial of pepper miir essence hero.” “Sir! Are you speaking to mel” de manded the young man as he bristled up. “Yes, sorter to you. You are feeliu’ sor rowful. You have my sympathy. When you came to open that wallet aud found it stuffed full of hair-dye dodgers, I’d a gin a bushel of ’taters to look at yer phiz. Look a-here!” Aud he pulled a great wad of greenbacks from his pocket and patted it fondly aud said: "Thar’s nuthin’ mean about me, I’m simply an old ruta-bnga from the agri cultural deestricks. Let’s have a glass of pop together.” Please Don’t For a moment suppose we are fooling when we say we are selling out; it is as sure as you live.
