made by a mj sterious process of human hair

great-grandfather, Btukelv Tillinghast, at
the time of his marriage in Savannah in
1793 to bis wife Elizabeth. It was made of
their hair and presented by a Frenchman
who alone possessed the art. The design is
worked with the h iir into the gold and a
peculiar ivor.v-like substance—how, no one

oval shape, and tbs body of it is of the rarest
old gold. The hair modeling represents
a marriAgo altar, upon the front of which
are two hearts linked together. Reposing
upon the altar is an urn, and upon its edge
are poised two doves, feeding therefrom.
On either side are the initials “S. T.”and

in this country is a brooch, made by the

The Failroed Commission Decides
that tne Charges are Just.
Pai.atka, Fla., Dec. 5. —The railroad
commissioners have acted on the complaints
made by the Paiatka Board of Trade against
the Jacksonville, St. Augustineand Halifax
River railway for excos-ive freight rates
over the bridge here, and have decided
against the city. Considerable indignation
is felt here, and the reasons given by the
commissioners for this action are regarded
as unsatisfactory. Calhoun & Gillis pre
sented the city's case, and instanced that
the road charged 35 cents for carrying a
barrel of Hour from Jacksonville to East
Paiatka, sixty-five miles, and 17 cents for
the tame barrel from Paiatka to East Pa
latka. two miles. Bridges are crossed m
both oases.
