BUTTS ITS NAME INTO COURT.
Tbe Story of a Connecticut Ram and
Two Lone Women.
Bbisokport, Cork., Dee. 4.—Mica Ade
laide W. Hubbell of Greenfield Hill, who
waa nearly butted to death by a ram belong
ing to Mlsa Agnee Murray, in May, 1887,
has at last secured in the courts an award
of $1,790 in damages. The suit has been in
the oourts since 1888. The ram was wan.
dering on property owned by Miss Hubbell’s
mother, and Miss Hubbell attempted to
drive it off. It refused to go and attacked
her. She was seriously injured, but re
covered after a long illness. The ram,
however, was nearly suffocated by being
entangled in Miss Hubbeli’s skirts, and died
shortly aftsr the combat. Miss Hubbell at
once began suit for $30,000 damages, and
Miss Murray entered a suit for the death of
the ram. Judge Hall gave bis decision in
favor of the plaintiff. Miss Murray’s suit
will probable be thrown out of court. She
is not inclined to give in, and says that she
will spend a good part of her fortune in
lighting before the will submit to the in
justice that has been dans her.
Among recent visitors to New York, says the
Press, were the blind yacht designer John
Herreshoff and his unmarried daughter. Dur
ing their stay here he was often seen around
the city accompanied by the fair-haired
young girl. she was his constant guide,
aud led him through the crowded
streets with practiced skillfulness.
Through her efes he saw the life of the city. As
they walked along together she described with
the facility of long experience everything of in
terest that went on about them. Especially
touching was the moment when In one of the
large steamship offices on Bowling Green she
described to him the model of one of the com
pany’s vessels. A married daughter of Mr.
Herreshoff was to sail on this steamer, and he
was anxious to learn the location of her slate
room and the plan of the vessel. These bis
companion explained to him with the exact
ness of an expert. "I have been so much with
my father, 'said Miss Herreshoff, ’that I have
learned'a great deal about boats, and we talk
much about them when together. So I can de
scribe them in terms that seem technical to an
amateur."
