Wild.
Mobile, Ala., May 30.—Mobile won to
day hands down, although there was
quite a scare in the iifth and sixth in
nings, when the visitors piled up a total
of seven runs. Petty’s wildness was in
strumental in Mobile scoring eight runs
in the first two innings. Savannah out
batted the locals, but their field work was
miserable, MeGarr at third being espe
cially bad. Cline's umpiring was exe
crable. The attendance was 300.
The game cannot count against Savan
nah because Mobile played George and
Miunehnn, Montgomery’s suspended play
ers. Manager Manning played the game
under protest and has been notified by
Secretary Hurt that his protest is.good.

RACING AT CUMBERLAND. < .
Brunswick, Ga., May 30.—Bicycle riders
of Georgia and Florida have been congre
gating on Cumberland Island this week
for interstate championship races. Tho
visitors made a great show, ate rare meat
and trained at a great rate, but Bruns
wick's champion, George Cook, the record
breaker, won the greatest race. The last
quarter of the first race was not run, the
bicyclists declining to continue the races
for tlie day. or to enter them to-morrow.
The Brunswick hoys like the visitors and
treated them well, and regret that
they would not continue the pro
gramme. No races were run yes
terday, owing to bad weather.
All the visitors like Cumberland so well
that they are staying over and liavinp a
groat time fishing, hunting and dancing.
Manager Morgan of Hotel Cumberland is
treat ing them royally, and all the visitors
are pleased with their stay, but give no
reason for not continuing the races. Tlie
general opinion here to-night, based on in
formation brought over on the boat, is
that Brunswick's wheelmen were too
swift for the others and they concluded
to fish instead of racing. Manager Mor
gan will deliver the medals to the winners
as soon as they arrive. *
Tlie first race was a quarter
mile open to all, to be run in four

A CIRCULAR TO CREDITORS.
Lloyd & Adams Make a Statement of
Their Affairs.
Mr. P. M. Adams, junior member of the
firm of Lloyd & Adams of this city, lias
issued a circular to creditors.
“Because of the absence of m.v partner
I am unable to state positively to our
creditors how far the affairs of the firm
are involved in the bank complications
that exist in Brunswick,” says Mr. Adams.
“I have directed the preparation of a
statement of the exact condition of tlie
Brunswick business which will en
able me at an early date to givo
you definite information as to that. 1 can
state without reserve that the Savannah
branch of the business, of which I am in
charge, is in splendid condition, and if the
firm is held liable only for its legitimate
debts I feel confident that its affairs are
perfectly sound.
“From the best information I can get I
think the Brunswick State Bunk, of
which my partner is president, will pay
out with loss only to its stockholders, and
also will the other two closed banks. In
view of the situation as I found it to exist
at Brunswick, I felt it my imperative
duty to protect bona fide accommo
dation indorsers, and also a claim for a
small amount which my wife has against
the firm. This I have done. Except for
tlies * preferences, you may accept my as
surance that the entire assets of the firm
will bo held intact for tho benefit of all
of its legitimate creditors.
"This trouble ,Ims eoipe upon me unan
nounced', and I now feel it m.v duty, not
less to myself than to the creditors of my
firm, to send them this statement. 1 have
directed that a similar statement*be sent
tho creditors of the Brunswick business
also.”
The Inspector Question.
Savannah, May 30.—Editor Morning
News: In this morning's issue of the
Morning News there is an article about
a building and plumbing inspector which
says that Alderman Harris has an ordi
nance that he intends to introduce into
council combining the two positions into
one. Now I havatho greatest respect for
Hr. Harris’ ability as a physician, and
heretofore as an alderman, but I must say
if he intends to father any such ordinance
11s the above he is making a grave mis
take. Of course his ffbjeet, as itappearson
the face, is to save iiieuoy for the city.
But right there he is making his mistake
for if he gets a man to take the position,
and there will be lots of them offer them
selves, he will get one that is a builder—
that is, one who knows when a building
is put up right and may know when a job
of plumbing looks nice on its face. But
there are a thousand and one little tricks
of the plumbers known only to a practical
workman that will save time, labor and
material that will undo all the entires job
from a sanitary 1 point. The council can
get their pick from four or five good men
here who hare a good education, and,
above all cannot be tampered with. They
are also first-class sanitary plumbers, and
U' they only had the authority they would
revolutionize the plumbing in this city,
which is a menace to life and health the
way it is now being put in. If the council
combine the two offices, either tho build
ing will suffer or the plumbing, or perhaps
both. If the offices are < ombined I think
I can name th man who will get the job.
The gentleman, I will admit, is a first
class builder, but right there it ends. Now
1 never sjioke to this gentleman in my
life, and if council insists on combining
the two offices I would as soon see him get
the office as any one else. But the plumb
ers and builders will have as much of a
picnic as ever, unless the offices are divided
and a competent bian put in each office.
