J. P.. the 8-year old son of Hon. J. P. Jones
of N’ewnan, was the victim of an unfortunate
aceldont on .Monday last, by which he lost
the sight of one of his eyes. He and an older
brother were playing together at their home
near Sargents, when the latter picked up a
piece of leather and improvised a sling. He
placed a small stone In the sling and began
twirling it, preparatory to throwing, when
the missile unexpectedly flew out and struck
his younger brother in the eye. l)r. Davis
was called to see him as soon as possible,
ahd. upon examination, found that the sight
of the Injured e.vo had beeu entirely destroyed.
He carried the little follow to Atlanta on
Tuesday to consult Dr. Abner Calhoun as to
the advisability of removing the eyeball, and
it seems likely now that an operation of this
character will become necessary.

it was before. The government is not very
lavish with its appropriations In this vicinity.
Another sum o 1 this size will not be secured

thrown away In this manner Is an unfortunate
sight."
