Senator Colquitt is quite ill in Atlanta.
Mrs. L. D. Pace, relict of the late Judge C.

About six months ago a prominent minister
of Albany performed a marriage ceremony
for whl hhe failed to receive the usual re
mune.a'.lon. The minister, on thanksgiving
day. received a letter containing a crisp $lO
biil with letter of apology for delay.

There was a destructive tire at. the Sea

broke out about 11:30 a m.. in a box ear and
it is supposed to have been the work of a
tramp, 'the platform of the depot was liter
ally covered with cotton and the strong wind

The will of the late Mli M. C. Kiser was

Kiser, in the first provision of the will lie
directs the payment of all his debts from the
income of his estate. He then provides for
the payment off 10.000 to his wife in cash, and
al.-o directs that she be paid *5.000 annually
so long as she remains at his home on Peach
tree street. If she should decide to leave the
home he directs that she -hail be paid $2,5C0
annually. He also provides that his Peach
tree street home shall be kept as a home for
his wife anil children and that tl.c expenses
of the home shall i e paid out of the estate.
Until his children reach the age of 25
years they are to reielve $2,500 per annum,
this to be paid out of the Income of the es
tate. He also provides for the payment of
SI.OOO to the home mission board of the South
ern Baptist convention. He gives to each
clerk who has been in his employ five years
ahd is not a partner in the business, the sum
of SSOO. To each of hisservants who have been
in his employ five years he also gives the sum
of SSOO. lie bequeath-the residue of his es
tate to his two sons. William H. Kiser and
John F. Kiser, and directs his executors to
sfce that none of his Atlanta real estate is sold.
He names W. H. H. Kiser as the guardian of
John F. Kiser, and Messrs. W. li. Kiser, Gor
don P. Kiser and Charles D. Montgomery are
numed as the executors of the will. The will
was signed sept. 2, 1803.

Dexter Hunter, of Jacksonville, loaded a
lighter with crossties for the New York Cen
tral railroad, at the Georgia Southern and
Florida wharf, at Palatka, last Saturday.

New Smyrna Breeze A bird of the alba
tross species, usually railed a man-of-war's
man. was shot by Mr. Merchant last M< n lay
morning, and captured alive with one of its
wings broken by tho bullet. The body of the
bird was not large, but it had a spread of 7
feet 2 inches from tip to tip of its wings.

At the last state meeting of the tcaohers of
Florida Prof. J. M. stuart of the State Agri
cultural college. wa-appointed a committee
of one on transportation. Prof. Stuart has
received official information from W. D.
Chipley. of the Louisville and Nashville sys
tem, that a rate of $6.50 from Pensacola to
Gainesville and return had been fixed, with
proportionately small rates from all stations
east of Pensacola. The meeting is to be held
next month.
The East Coast line people expect the di
vision from JupUer to West Palm Beach to
t e completed on Dec. 15. The new line Is be
ing rushed through It is being built in two
sections, with big tcr .es of men on each. The
F.ast Coast iioo will inaugurate its new
schedule on Dec 11. A double dally service
will bo offered between Jacksonville and Eau
Gallic, at which point connection will be made
with the Jupiter steamers One daily through

Orlando Reporter: Bishop H. B. Whipple,
of Minnesota, .arrived at Maitland tn time to.
preach an excellent sermon at the ( hureh of
the Good Shepherd on Thanksgiving day.
On Sunday he also had a large congregation
to hear him. He is occupying his winter
home opposite the church and has with him
his widowed daughter Mrs. Scamlrett. her
two children, Miss Nellie and Master Ben,
and Master Frank Rose, the bishop's grand
son. Dr. Rose is expected later In the sea

In the circuit court at Jacksonville Monday
the following prisoners were called up and
sentenced: Sam Motln, convicted of man
slaughter in the third degree: four years in
the state prison. Ben Keed and Bob Grant,
convicted of murder In the first degree with
re.’ommtndatlon to mercy: for life in the
state prison. Alex. Moseley, convicted of
manslaughter; six years in same prison,
i ave Lovett, convicted of murder in the first
degree: to be hung at such time a- the gover
nor may designate. The prisoners are ail ne
groes and hail nothing to sav while being

Orlando Reporter; Among the sales made
bv Sheriff Audgrson Monday morning was
that of four miles of the Orange Beit railroad,
beginning at Monroe and running south. The
sale included right of-way. side-tracks, depot
buildings, yards water tank, etc., and was I
bid in for SIO.OUO by Mr. McLeod for the San- I
ford and St. Petersburg railroad, which some
time ago purchased under foreclosure in the i

the new monthly magazine published in Jack
sonville. is an article from the pen of H. W.
Partridge, of Monticello. with the. above title,
in it he describes the effect of the drought of
lskl on Lake Micuosi kie. one of the lar rest
lakes in Middle Florida when about 6 01
acres of water became Urv land for a spell.
