10 p. m.—Weather Synopsis.—The maxi
mum temperature at Savannah to-day was
91 degrees, and the minimum 70 degrees,
the mean temperature being 80 degrees,
cr a deficiency of 5 degrees.
The total local rainfall during the thun
derstorm this afternoon was 2.29 Inches,
1.75 Inches of which fell between 5:06 p. m.,
and 6:20 p. in., a rate of nearly .09 of nich
per minute.
During the twenty-four hours ending at
6 o'clock p. tm., to-day generally fair
weather prevailed in the Augusta, Gal
veston. Mobile and Wilmington cotton re
gion districts; elsewhere in the cotton belt
scattering showers were reported.

Maritime Matters of Local and Gen
eral Interest.
The schooner Caroline C. Foss, Capt.
Crabtree, cleared yesterday for Fall River,
Mass., and Newark, N. J., and went to sea
in tow of the tugboat Wm. F. McCauley.
The schooner has a part cargo for Fall
River, which must be delivered within
a certain time, consequently, she was
obliged to take a tow. The cargo on the
v< ssel consists of 121,119 feet of lumber
for Fall River and 219,208 feet for Newark.
The Georgia Lumber Company shipped
the cargo.
The Norwegian bark Bonheur cleared
and sailed yesterday for London, with
a argo consisting of 5,098 casks of spirits
turpentine, 5,245 white oak staves, and

shipped by Jas. Farie, Jr.
The tugboat Dauntless of Brunswick
Wus launched from Wlllink's Marine rail
way yesterday, after having her bottom
scraped and painted. She will leave this
morning for Fernandlna, from whence
she will tow a schooner laden with lurm
otr to a northern port.
The steamer Bessie was yesterday haul
el out on Wlllink's Marine railway for
repairs.
The schooner Harriot C. Kerlln, from
Philadelphia, July 3, bound for this port,

day.
