2 EFFECT OF COOL WEATHER. IT HAS HF.TUIDED THE &HOWUG OF THE CHOI'S. However, There In Xot Vloeh Likeli hood of Permanent Injury to Cot ton—The Recent Rrooitht Won Hroken in VII Section* of the State. Southern Section* of the Stnte Are Short on Labor. Atlanta, 'May 29 —The weekly crop bul letin, issued by the local weather bureau, re [torts that the past week was. In gener al, highly favorable to crops anti all farm ing interests, the only detrimental feature being, perhaps, the prevalence of rather cool nights for the season. The effect of the cool weather was to i- :ar.! cotton growth, but as the season Is so early, there is not much likelihood of permanent injury to this crop. The drought conditions which have pre vailed to a greater or lesser extent for a few weeks, were almost effectually broken over the entire state by copious rains beginning on the 23rd and continuing in many sections until the 26th. The growing crops were much improved by the rains end ore now coming forward vigorously, having been well-worked during the week. There is some complaint of scarcity of iabor in tije southern sections. Chopping of early cotton is progressing favorably In the north, and Is completed in some of ihe central counties. The stands are on the whole regarded as good. Late cotton has been improved by the moisture, and is coming up nicely. THE GEORGE THOMAS CASE. Sir*. Douberly Ray Xot Howe to Go on Witness Stnnd. Mr. Douberly will make an effort to pre vent ’he subjection of his wife to the mor tification of testifying in open court, and it is hoped that her sworn affidavit will be .sufficient. Judge Gary Is the presiding officer and Solicitor Townsend will conduct the prose cution. ALLEN X A MED FOR SELX’ATOR. Harmony Prevailed In Hnncock, Baldwin and Washington. A resolution was 1 trcducid by the Hancock delegation in iorsing and strongly advocating the main tenance of the rotation system which now e\ists In the counties.
