She immediately hoisted the American ensign. The Brothers was from Ha vana, bound to the Congo River. She cleared from Havana on the^ld of July for Saint Thom as, on the Coast of Africa, at which point she did not touch. She hasontioardlioilcis, bricks for a furnace, saantling, plank, wooden spoons, 40 water casks and all the materials which are generally supposed to lie necessary for a slave voyage, and $8,600 in money. Tbo Grand Jurors selected, chosen and svroro, for the October Term of 185*, beg leave to make the following report » Owing to the character of our duties this week, we have been unable to make a careful examination of the Public Buildings and Records. This was, however, done at the Spring Term. As there has been some c* impiaint as to (be Roads, in the aforesaid County, we would recommend to the Inferior Court, to pay particular attention to the Public Roads in aaia County, and canze the Com missioners to have all the Roads put in good condi tion ss it is for the pnblie good. We would partic ularly call the attention of the Inferior Court to the condition of the roads in the Sixth District. We also find the following Bridges In bad condi tion, being Bridges over Mossy Creek, called Giles Bridge: also, the one at Sand Ridge Cbnrch ; also, two Bridges over big Indian, known as the ones near Perry and Samuel Garr; also, that over Big Creek at Lawson’s Plantation, and the embankment of that over Echeeonee, between Houston and Bibb Countie*, on the road between Perry and Macon. We would respectfully recommend the passage of some Act by the Legislature, for the removal of Free Negroes from our State. We would Represent that they are an unqualified nuisance in persons to our interest, in a most vital point. We furthermore recommend to the next Legisla ture, ss well as the members from this County, to have the Uw of this State so changed, as to give the Solicitor Generals of this State a sufficient sal ary to rnmpensate them for their services and al low the Fees time they now receive, to go and belong to the respective Counties in which the Bills of In dictments end Presentments may be found.
