A Into extract from the minutes of Jones Court of Ordinary, this 10th day of Sept., 1858. 1.14. CHARLES M - S A Card from Dr. James HI. Jar- RETT, OF THE NEW YORK LUNG INFIRMA RY.—My connection for the past eight years with the above Institution, as Chief Physician, and a twelve years’ coarse of steady devotion to the cure of Pulmonary Consumption and its kindred diseases, together with my unrivalled opportunities and ad vantage of pathological research—aided not a little by a perfect system of Medical Inhalation—has en abled me to arrive at a decisive, direct, and success ful coarse of treatment for the positive and radical core of all diseases of tho Throat. Lungs, and Air- Passages. By inhalation, tho vapor and curativo properties of medicines are directly addressed to the diseased orjjans and the internment. I do not ad* visa the use of Medical Inhalation of any kind, to the exclusion of general treatment; and although I consider it a useful adjuvant io the proper manage ment oftbose fearful and often fatal diseases, yet I deem it very necessary that each patient should have the benefit of both generalund local treatment. The success of my treatment in the above diseases, and the high character of the Institution over which jl have so long bad the honor to preside, are too well known to need any eulogy or comment from me.— At the solicitation of many private and professional friends, through whoso philanthropic aid the above charity has been long and liberally supported, and after due consideration, 1 have concluded to make snch arrangements as will bring the benefits of my experience and treatment within the reach of all, and not confine myself, aa heretofore, to those only who entered the Infirmary, or who wereableto visit me at my office. Hoping therefore that the arrange ment will give entire satisfaction, both to my pro fessional brethren and the public. I would respect fully announce in conclusion, that I can now be eon- suited personally or by letter, on alldiseaaea-as above and that the medicines, the same as used in the In stitution, prepared to suit each individual case, Inha ling Vapors, Medical Inhalers, Ac., Ac., will he for warded by express to auy part of the United States or the Canadas. Terrs.—My terms of treatment by letter are as follows, viz: 815 per month for each pa tient, which will include medicine sufficient for one month's use; also, Inhaling Vapor, and an Inhaling Apparatus, Payment as follows: 86 to be paid to Express Agent on receipt of the box of Medicine, and the balance €<> at the expiration of the month, if the patient be cured or is entirely satisfied with the treatment. Patients, by givings foil history of their case, and their symptoms in full, can be treated aa well by letter as by personal examination. Patients availing themselves of Dr. Jarrett's treatment may rely upon immediate and permanent relief, as he seldom has to treat a case over thirty days Letters for advice promptly answered. For further partic ulars address JAMES M. JARRETT, M. D-, No. 820 Broadway, cor. Twelfth St. N. Y. P. s.—Physicians and others visiting the city are respectfully invited to call at the Infirmary, where many interesting cases can be witnessed, and where onr improved apparatus forthe inhalation of media cateiT vapor coo be teen and inspected. 1 sepl4—6m nemnm Sept. TN all the hea JL South West, of the ffre fc Gotten INGERSGL.L HOOP 1*0CK with the common ICoop Iron Band, has superse ded every other method of securing tho Cotton Bale. Time and space would fail us to give the numerous certificates of Cotton Planters, Brokers, Warehouse men, Insurers, Compressors and Shippers, showing beyond a doubt, that tho days of Rope binding are numbered, and tho immense advantages of the Hoop Xjoc!& and Iron Tic. Their economy wherever tried, has been conceded in these points: 1. They •five twenty to thirty dollar* cost in baling material on every one hundred Bags, 2. The fastening U much more expeditiously ap plied, and much more convenient for the compress. 3. Itisa perfect safeguard **—*«**■ from the bale. 4. ItiM an almost abaointe security ngmast Fire. Fire applied to bales thus bound, as shown by actual experiment, iciil smoulder without fame, twenty hours without spreading, and allowing plenty of time for easy extinguishment. 5 ItiM an sibuolutely nccurc fsintcning. In actual experiments mado in Montgomery, bales thus bound, were pitched down forty feet perpendicular from a house-top, upon a brick pavement, without perceptible effect. *- 6. Itis perfectly simple.aud requires no machinery at’all iu the application. Any common hoop-iron of proper width and thickness, (which is about J inch wide, and a scant sixteenth of one inch thick,) and of any requisite length to suit the bale, is taken in the hand, one end passed through tho opening, from the under side, of ono end of the under part of the lock to the length of about one inch, and then bent over the end of the lock. Tho other end ot the hoop is then passed round tho bale and drawn through a loop or opening iu the opposite end of the lock, and then beat in the same manner as the other. The button is then turned back to its place over them, and the lioop is fast on tlie bale, and the bale may be moved if desired. 7. It holds the package in one-fourth smaller com- S ass than rope—thereby rendering it easier to han- le, and cheapening freight. These facts and advantages are certified to by leading Warehouse men, Planters, Shippers and Bro kers in testimonials too numerous to bo cited or spec ified in this advertisement.
