mHE undersigned, Isaac C. Wxst, having been
i appointed by the Cotton Planter * Convention,
A rant for tbo purpose of receiving, shipping and
.idling Cotton, (as Planter* may order.) for the cit
ies of Savannah and Charleston, has formed a co-
nartnorshipwith Mr. James Godfrey, of Savannah.
The business will bo conducted under the firm and
style of
■West &y G-oclfrey.
The services of the Firm are now offered to Plan
ters. Cotton will be sold ntjjly cent* per bale, as
authorized by the Convention, and other produce at
the customary rates. The personal attention of the
copartners will be given to this business.
The firm pledges itself to c bserve strictly the di
rections of tne Convention, and in no instance to en
ter into speculations, or be concerned in purcha
sing Cotton ; their’s will be expressly a commission
business. •
The firm will be prepared to make liberal advan
ces on all produce in store, and to furnish such sup
plies as Planters may require, on reasonable terras.
Planters will promote their interests by covering
the Cotton, when packed, entirely with bagging;
oatlering it not to be cut, and placing their brand or
mark distinctly on each bale.

6. It is perfectly simple,and requires no machinery
at all in the application. Any common boop-iron of
proper width and thickness, (Which is about $ inch
wide, and a scant sixteenth of one inch thick,) and
of any requisite length to suit the bade, is taken
in the hand, one end passed through the opening,
from the under side, of one end of the under part
ofthe lock to the length of about one inch, and then
bent over the end of 3ie lock. Tho other end ol the
hoop is then passed round tbe bale and dra wn through
a loop or opening in the opposite end of the lock,
and then bent in the same manner as the other. The
button is then turned back to its place over them,
and the hoop is fast on tho bale, and the bale may be
moved if desired. *
7. It holds the package in one-fourth smaller com
pass than rope—thereby rendering it easier to han
dle, and cheapening freight.
