It is perfectly simplc.and requires no machinery at all in tue application. Any common hoop-iron of proper width and thickness, (which is about % inch •wide, ami a scant sixteenth of one inch thick,) and of any requisite length to suit the bale, is taken in the hand, one end passed through the opening, from the under side, of one end of the under part of the lock to the length of about one inch, and then bent over the end of the lock.
