ti. It is perfectly simple.and requires no machinery
at all in tne application. Any common hoop iron of
proper width and thickness, (which ia about j inch
wide, and a scant sixteenth of one inch thick,) and
of any requisite length to suit the bale, is taken
ia the hand, one end passed through the opening,
from the under side, of one end of the under part
of the lock to the length of about one inch* and then
bent over the end of the lock. The other eud ol the
hoop is then passed round tho bale and drawn through J
a loop or opening in the opposite end of the lock*
and then bent in the same manner os the other. The
