Price 0 cents per pound, 25 per cent, leu than Rope. Any one considering tbe advantages of Iron over Hope as a material for binding cotton bales, will be ■nrprised that it baa not been adopted long since.— In is security against fire, there is an overwhelming reason for its adoption. Tbe presses in tbe seaport eitiee have been the main cause of its not being generally adopted; but now that objection ia removed generally, and tbe Orleans Press, tbe largest in New Orleans, gives it tbe preference over rope. The Fassman Iron IIoop andTie ia tbe improvement of one of the proprietors, and ia adopted irom the fact, that it is found, after long experiment, to combine tbe greatest merits in simplicity and facility of application of any one yet rasas. Jt is so prepared ss tu 'require no ebaags for re-compressing. Thus obviating the only remain- ng difficulty at the seaboard cities. The boopa are sent of any length, from eight ot ten feet, and a foil guarantee given that neither tbe Ties nor Hoops shall break. And further, that all cotton bound iu them shall be reoeived on the same terms, at the Orleans Press, as rope bound cotton.— The weight per bale is about tbesame as rope, not one pound more or less. To show tbe opinion shipmasters have of it, we givo tbe following, among numerous commends tionswehave: Tbe undersigned masters of vessels, having had cotton compressed with Faasman’a new Iron Hoops and Ties, hereby recommend the same. The bales being well compressed, and tbe buttons or bnops, never breaking when thrown down in the ship's bold, or when stowed. L. L. VIRGIN A PURE LIQUOR. NO ADULTERATION W E call the attention of those of our readers who deal in or indulge in the use of Spirituous Liquors, to the SU3HIERDEAN WHISKY, ns bein" a pure article, and free from any intermix ture with deleterions drags, which are so often nsed to givo zest and flavor to inferior articles. In these days, when Whisky has become such a popular drink, a pure article, we should think, would be de sirable, and we recommend an examination of tbe "Summerdean.”— [Norfolk and Portsmouth Herald. While we do not advocate the general nse of spir ituous liquors, yet we think that it is well for every family to keep a small quantity of a PUKE ARTICLE in the house, and now that there is so much impo sition in imported liquors of all kinds, it is well for us to inquire what is the purest distillation that we can get. We have had our attention called to an article of Rye Whisky branded “SUltllUERDEAn,” which we are assured, by those in whom wo have confidence, is a pure ana unadulterated article; we can only apeak experimentally of the flavor, that ia exquisite.—[Southern Patriot. This pure liquor, made without any adulterating element, has taken the premium at our State Fair, and continues to rank high. It is a very healthy and pleasant drink.—[Richmond Enqnirer. It has a flavor as soft and refreshing as a South ern wind, and is fnlly np to the imported French Brandies in quality anu purity.—(Rich. Dispatch.
