Import* front Japan.—Recently there have ar-

) vessels from Japan,
the first which have arrired in the United States
from that country. One of these vessels brought
a full cargo of fancy ware, toys, &c. The other
two brought cargoes ol rape seed oil, leaf tobac
co, sweet potatoes, rice, chesnuts, isinglass, cop
per ware, lacquered ware, porcclcafn ware, peas,
pears, green sea-weed, Ac. The rape seed oil
is described os of superior quality; tho leaf to
bacco, much of it, is equal to the best Havana;
the rico is a large, round, plump kernel, very
superior in quality. The manufactured articles
are in great variety, and many of them of ex
quisite workmanship; and the enameled, lac
quered and varnished ware is unrivaled. -
A Sad Accident.
On Saturday afternoon, James Ssiitil a lad
employed in this Office, and about fifteen years
old, went out shooting, in company with two
others, in tho woods below the Central R. Road
track, known as the Reserve, and while resting
llor a while, placed tho but-end of- his gun a-
gainst the root of a tree, and threw ,his whole
weight upon tho muzzla. Just a few minutes
before, he had Cocked the piece to shoot a spar
row, and left it so. The gun slided a little from
its position, causing the hammer to strike the
bark of the tree, the cap exploded, and the
wholo load was buried in his body, between
his shoulder and right nipple. He staggered n
few' paces, attempting to speak, and exclaimed:
‘‘Oh! Henry 1" . The blood gushed from liis
mouth, stopping articulation,—he fell -to
wards his companion, covered him with blood
that spouted from the frightful wound, sunk to
the ground and died in five minutes. The place
where he was shot, was only a hundred yards
from the scene of the death of Frederick Jaug-
stutter, killed also by the accidental discharge
of a gun, duringthe Christmas Holidays.
This is the third warning given to parents du
ring the last two months, about allowing their
children the use of guns; yet we sec boys on
the streets with guns on their shoulders, Satur
day after Saturday, on their way to the woods
and commons, to do more mischief than supply
the table with game. mM

Wistar’a Balaam of Wild Cherry*
Read the following from Rev. Henry Wood, formerly
editor of the Congregational Journal. Concord, N. H.
and now American Minister to Beyroot. Syria:
Mr.-.ns. Seth W. Fowle A Oo.—Gentlemen: Two
years ago, a sudden and violent attack upon my Lung,
confined me to my bed for several weeks, and when 1
recovered, I was so much oppressed by difficulty In
breathing, that I was often nnable to sleep or rest upon
a bed by night. Tho suffering was extreme, and lodg
ing from the ineffleaey of the remedies need, I supposed
the disease Incurable. Being persuaded to try a bottle
of trutar'i Balsam of inId Cherry, without confidence
in Its efficacy, I found the difficulty almost entirely re
moved before one bottle was used up. Sympathy with
my fellow-sufferers Induces me to make this public state
ment, and recommend the article to others similarly af
flicted.
With respect, yours truly,

In presenting you wtth Dli. EATON'S INFAW
TILE CORDIAL, we desire to state its superiority
over every nostrum that nurse or quack has hereto
fore offered you.
_ First, it is the preparation of a regular physician,
who is well qualified Iron) - much
experience in in
fantile complaints to prescribe for them. Secondly
—It Is entirely free from paregoric or opiate of any
kind, and consequently relieves by removing the
suffering ol your child, instead of deadening its sen
sibilities. Thirdly—It is pnt np with great care, as
a comparison of it with any other article for iutan-
tile complaints willsliow: the very roots from which
it is distilled being dag from the forests under the
direction of Dr. Eaton, many of them by his own
hands. Fourthly—It is perfectly harmless' and can
not injure the most delicate infant, and is a certain
core and relief in all the following cases, which is its
chief-merit over every other preparation, via:
For all COMPLAINTS ATTENDING TEETH.
ING; such as DYSENTERY, COLIC, Ac.; also,
for softening the gums and relieving pain. Forreg-
ulating the bowels it is uneqnalied. For Cold in the
Head it is a sure relief. For CROUP, the most fa
tal and trying oi diseases, it can be relied on with
perfect confidence; and being a powerful anti-spas
modic in all cues of convulsions or fits, we earnest
ly recommend you to lose no time in procuring it.
Lastly—it costa so ranch more than other prepara
tion. of tho kind, that wo cannot afford such long
advertisements as can those, whose whole expense
is their advertising; for the same reason, it com
mends itself as the most reliable to all mothers. In
