there will be no conflict for the present, be

AUSTRIA AND ITALY SIIAKH HANDS.
Bismarck need he under no apprehension
as regards Russia. He may rest assured that
the Czar has no intention of troubling him
nt present; but there is a little circumstance
which is calculated to make him rather fid
gety, and that is, that Austria and Italy seem
very much inclined to make :t up entirely;
and the coming Premier, must not he ba blind,
that the agents of the
Vienna and at Flor

establish n good fellowship between the house |
of Habsbury aud Savoy. Napoleon, outwit
ted by Russia, is evidently trying to turn
ov»*r Austria, which is now no longer Ger

satisfied with the conduct of her Prussian
ally to her.
A. new game, I fancy, is about to be played

What is a Dakling ?—A Darling, as we
should speak the word, would be a very dear,
§ ood, lieart-loved girl or woman, who held
le innermost place in our heart. She would
be a woqtan loved beyond all else in the
world—a woman we should defend before all
mankind—a woman whose lips were tliosa of
truth and sacredness—whose happiness a
man could live for—a woman a man would
be proud of—a woman you could put your
arm in gentleness around, draw to your heart,
press a kiss to l or lips, and as her head half
rested on your s tonlder, look deep into her
eye and whisper “Darling!” She would be a
woman in whom wo had all the confidence in
the world, one a man would be proud to
make happy, and whose pride would be in
lier husband’s sp**®** Happiness, reputation,
her own good name, her garden, her house,
her friendships, and tho purity of her heart.
“Darlinre’' means evervthtner—words UDSDok-

this course at once ?
Cuba.—The productiveness of Cuba is most
astonishing. Her exports arc more per head
than those of any other country on the face
of the globe. Her export and import trade
of 1850 was as follows:
Exports for 1S59 #57,455,m
Imports for 1859 43,40,18
Showing an excess of exports over im
ports of. $13,989,500
Now the population of Cuba is only about
one million and a half, all told, black and
white. Upon analyzing the above figures,
then, it will be seen that the exports ofCuba
amount to about $40 per head for encli man,
woman and child on the island.
At the same time it should be noted that
this great production is not all exchanged for
articles imported, but there is a net income
or surplus of exports over imports of $13,
989,500.
