On .Monday a good inquiry set in. but buyers being
indisposed to advance figures, there was little Cotton
offered. The few sales made were at 23j$c. for good
Cotton'. , .. _
There was a,stilt better demand on Tuesday. The
noon dispatches waving of a favorable character,
holders advanced their, figures half cent, which was
readily conceded by buyers, and all Cno Cottons
placed upon the hoards brought 24 cents.
A fair demand existed in the morning Wednesday,
for Middlings, at 25 cents.. Dispatches at noon. Quo
ting a decline in Liverpool and New York, checked
the inquiry, and out market closed dull.
Oii Thursday, there was but little offering stock
on sale-buyers being indisposed to pay over 21 cents,
which holder* were/eluctant to accept. The day s
sates comprised oaty a few lota at that figure.

.Should the American receipts now fall off rapidly,

bare of supply, but tho stock in London und Havre is
now reduced to a lower point than for many months
post. On the other band, should the American re
ceipts contiuue liberal for another week or so. the

1st instant was 60,290 bales, against 45,187 tat year,

The sale* of the week sum up 55.220 bales, of which
42,000 were taken by the trade, 11.270 declared for ex
port anil i960 on speculation. Imports light owing to I
prevailing unfavorable winds. Stock reduced past 1
week 36.900 bales, and now, 167.0S0 in excess of tat
year, but the supply at sea is 840,000 bales less than
tat year, leaving a decreaseGn apparent supply, as
compared with tat year, 1/2,920 hales.
