Gsxkiul Rkuauks.—With an oecwional "epirt
op." caused by slightadvanocsIn Cotton, trade con
tinues in almost tho Mine dull and apathetic stato
that wo hnvo noted for months rn-t. Our merchants
■till complain that they havo “but littlo to do and
plenty of lime to do it in." Most of them, however,
havo either been nblo to meet their "paper" or havo
cot extension upon it. They havo .-cn.-ibly come to
the conclusion, too, to purchaso only inch goods, in
small quantities.. ns will keep op their stocks and en
able them !o meet tho limited inquiries or buy or*.
With prudence and close economy they will bei enabled
to br\J.-o ..-< r tl,e» in:* r a- i hope •’ j-tr.ki..;: a
lively if not extensive Spring trade.
Canos —From all wo can learn, it is the openly
exp-. - ed intention of tworthirds of the planter* of
SouthwostiTu Georgia to not only eonduct theirplant-
inc iaterosts on • much le*» extensive scalo than the
■Mtscason, but will dr# fnoro attention to provisions
ksreaRer, and plant lees cotton. This Is as it should be.
Those planters, even, who raised enough corn to pro
ton for even two or throe months of tho coming
season, find Ihomselvcs “foot-loose,” as it were, and
will experience little or no difficulty In coming ontall
right In making another crop.
Our market, at the elose of our last Weekly Boview,
closed with a good inquiry for the better grades of
Cotton at IS cent*. Since then prices have fluctuated
for the best qualities at from 73 to 74 cents, with still
greater fluctuations in tho inferior qualities. These
remarks will apply to the state of our market for tho
list live days at toast.
Our market opened this morning with a good in
quiry, and thebetter gradesbroughti.-Iicents. Alter
the receipt of favorable noon dispatches, our market
became excited, and offer* were readily taken at the
