THE 8HTYEBING SEASON.
It is impoeeible.to suppose that any human being
can consider an attack of fever and ague a light vis
itation. And yet thousands act as if such a calami
ty was of no consequence; while thousands who
aro actually suffering from the distressing complaint
neglect to adopt the certain means of cure. It ought
to be known in every locality subject to this scourge,
or which is. infested with' remittent fever, or any
other epidemic produced by malaria, that HOSTET-
TEIt S STOMACH BITTEItS taken in advance or
at the commencement of the unhealthy season, will
fortify the system against the atmospheric poison
which generates these distempers. This admirable
invigor&nt—harmless, agreeable, and possessing
rarer medicinal virtuos than any other tonic at pres
ent known, will break up the paroxsyems of inter
mittent or remittent fever in from forty-eight hours
to ten days. Such is tho universal testimony from
districts where periodical fevers have been combat
ted with this powerful vegetable Cbologogue. In a
thievish neighborhood wise men bar their doors and
windows, yot strange to eay if the same neighbor
hood happens to be pervaded by terial poison they
seldom take the trouble to put their bodies in a
state of defence against the subtle enemy. Shiver
ing victims endeavoring in vain to warm your blue
hands over tho fire, or consuming with the fever
that follows tho chill, remember that Hostetter’s
Bitters is an absolute, speedy and infallible speci
fic for your distressing malady.

The S. S. Si. of 1861,
Or Dr. JEUSON’S Original SoUtbbbx Soothing
Syrdi- fob Children Teething, is again resusci
tated! It is a (Jorrigent of the Bowel disorders
contingent upon this period: a aroteful Carmina
tive ; a nutritions Syrup ; and a gentle Anodyne,
inducing calm and refreshing repose, without the
pernicious and distressing reactionary disturbance
of the nervous system that results from tho exhibi
tion of most preparations—expressly made for chil
dren, Its uhg in tho Southern States, as far hack
as 1862. established its reputation as a Southern In
stitution, and, as a medicine unrivalled, and as be
ing the best and safest preparation for children
teething, ensuring best to siotuebs and nurses and
relief and strength to their infants. It is therefore
no new medicine, and needs no advertising wbero it
is best known. Every precaution has been taken
to preserve and protect it from fraudulent counter
feits. It is triannf actured only at the Laboratory
of Odite, Tompkins & Hurd, members of and suc
cessors to the old established Southern Dbuo House
of Harr.ii,. Bislet & Kitchen, 111 Chambers
street, Now York, to whom all orders should be ad
dressed. and is for Bale to the citizens of Macon by
Harris, Clay & Co.; Ethridge & Davis, Eatonton,
Ga., and all respectable Druggists,

Be Beaottcl. If you desire beauty, you should
use Hagan's Magnolia Balm.
It gives a soft, refined, satin-hko texture to the
Complexion, removes Roughness, Redness,Blotches,
Sanborn, Tan, etc., and a tinge of Pearly Bloom to
tho plainest features. It .brings the Bloom of
Youth to the fading cheek, and changes the rustic
Country Girt into a Fashionable City Belle.
In the use of tho Magnolia Balm lies the true se
cret of beanty. No lady need complain of her com
plexion who will invest 75 cents in this delightful
article. .
Lyon’s Kathairon is the best Hair Dressing in
use. ’ octlO-deod&wlm.
Words to Mothers.—We have the pleasure of
annonndog the revival pf Dr. Jenson’s celebrated
medicine, Southern. Soothing Syrup, which thou
sands of Southern mothers and muses have exten
sively used and justly extolled for its geutlo ano
dyne qualities and nutritive snpport to infant life.
Refreshing sleep is induced, which is tho animus of
a healthy, vigorous child constitntion. To secure
this everything of a distressing influence upon the
nervous system, so inimical to infant life, is dis
carded from the preparation. Mothers and nurses
uso it. It will save your own rest, and the lives of
your infant charges. Sec advertisement “8.18 b.

A WoNBERtm, Southern Discovery.—In the
Sonth where Liver complaint and bilions diseases
prevail to sa great an extent, there has long been
felt a need o' a medicine that would act speeiffcally
andproimiiiy on the Liver, restoring it to its nor
mal fmicuona, and at the tamo time be safe£rom
after effects, and yet so simple that it might boused
by any one. It is claimed that Dr. TUTTS VEG
ETABLE LIVER PILLS supplies this want. They
act directly on the Liver, their constant use will
not injure, in the slightest degree, thdtnostdelicate
constitution. Females at any period may use them
with great benefit, and realize great relief from the
distressing nausea which they experience at ceatain
times. These pills aro not recommended as a uni
versal cure-all, but simply for diseased Liver, and
those maladies which follow a derangement of that
important organ, euch as Dyspepsia, Sick Headache,
Indigestion, Loss of Appetite, 'Ooativeness, Piles,
Jaundice, Sour Stomach. Ladies’ Heartburn, Chills
or’Fever, Foul Breath, Restlessnoas at night, and
Flatulency. These invaluable pills my bo found in
every Drug Store of any note in the South and West.

“Theirrare personal beauty is heightened by a

is pleasant to notice that even in the maddest freak

constipation, aversion to society, umnanliness, dread
of future events, loss of memory, indolence, nocturnal

can be fully restored to health. Persons afflicted
with this, or any other delicate, intricate, er long
standing constitutional complaint, should give the
Doctor a trial. He never fails.
The Doctor publishes a medical circular that gives
a full exposition of venereal and private diseases, that
can bo had free at his office, or by mail for one stamp.
It gives a clear delineation of all the diseases and
conditions resulting Grom the infringement of tho
moral laws, excesses, indulgences, exposures, and im
prudences in married or single life. Every sentence
contains instruction to the afflicted, and enabling
them to determine the precise nature of their com
plaints.
The establishment comprising ten ample, rooms,
is central. When it is not convenient to visit the
city, the Doctor’s opinion can bo obtained by giving
a written statement of the case, and medicines can be
forwarded by mail or express. In some instances,
however, a personal examination is absolutely neces
sary, while in others, daily personal attention is re
quired, and for the accommodation of suoh patients
there are apartments connected with tho office that
are provided with overy requisite that is calculated
to promoto recovery, including medicated vapor baths.
