LOST BEAUTY
OF WOMEN
Can Be Remedied, in Many In
stances, According to State
ment of Mrs. Lucile
McElroy.
Laurel, Miss:—In a letter from this
place. Mrs. Lucile McElroy says: “I
was sick for three years, with backache,
headache, pains in my stomach and
back, low down. At times, I could not
do a thing. I was so weak.
After I was married, I thought I
would try Cardui. the woman’s tonic,
and after using two or three bottles, I
couldn’t tell one day from another—felt
^good all the time.
I not only, still use Cardui, hut advise
every lady, 1 think needs it, to give it a
trial, and several whom 1 have persuad
ed, say tftey have obtained great t re
lief.
Another good thing I have noticed
about Cardui, is that it fills out hollows
under the eyes, which are sunken as if
from a bad spell of sickness. It fleshens
up a woman’s eyes, and makes them
. look bright and plump. Many a woman
would be pretty if it were not for her
sunken-in eyes.
I belieye that Cardui, the woman's
tonic, is the only treatment for women.”
Do yoji suffer from womanly trouble?
If so, give Cardui, the woman’s tonic, a
trial.
. Judging from the experience of a mil
lion, other women who have been bene
fited by'this remedy, it should surely
do you good.

How to Avoid Those Pains and Distress
Which so Many Mothers Have Suffered.
It is a pity more, women do not know
of Mother’s Friend. Here is a remedy
that softens the muscles, enables them to
expand without any strain upon the liga
ments and enables women to go through
the* ordeal without pain, nausea, morning
sickness or any of the dreaded symptoms
so familiar to many mothers.
There is no foolish diet to harass the
mind. The thoughts do not dwell upon
pain and suffering, for all such are avoided.
Thousands of women no longer resign
themselves to the thought that sickness and
distress are natural. They know better,
for in Mother’s Friend they have found how
easy It is with this wonderful penetrating
remedy to banish all those dreaded experi
ences which have been talked about ever
since memory began.
It is a subject every woman should b©
familiar with, and even though she may
not require such a remedy, she will now
and then meet some prospective mother to
whom a word in time about Mother’s Friend
will come as a wonderful blessing. This
famems remedy is sold by all druggists, and
Is only $1.00 a bottle. It is for external
use only, and is really worth its weight in
gold. Write to-day to the Bradfield Regu

men who have been suggested to him
by political leaders and friends of can
didates.
While riding to Philadelphia *frorn
Princeton to see a dentist he read some
of the published reports which drew
the inference that because be was un
able in his conversation with the cor
respondents last night to recall offhand
who had been suggested for the sec
retaryship of state besides Mr. Bryan,
the selection of the Nebraskan was in
dicated.
"There is absolutely no justification
for that inference,” declared Mr. Wilson
today. “I couldn’t recall the names of
men who have been suggested for port
folios- other than the secretaryship of
state either.”
No Biliousness, Headache,
Sour Stomach, Coated
Tongue or Constipation
Furred Tongue, Bad Taste. Indiges
tion, Sallow Skin and Miserable Head
aches come from a torpid liver and
clogged bowels, which cause your
stomach to become filled with undi
gested food, which sours and ferments
like garbage in a swill barrel. That’s
th e 1 first step to untold misery—indi
gestion, foul gases, bad breath, yellow
skin, mental fears, everything that is
horrible and nauseating. A Cascaret
tonight will give your constipated
bowels a thorough cleansing and
straighten you out by morning. They
work while you sleep—a 10-cent box
from your druggist will keep you feel
ing good for months. Millions of
men and women take a CaScaret now
and then to keep their stomach, liver
and bowels regulated, and never know
a miserable moment. Don’t forget the
children—their little insides need a
good, gentle cleansing,. too.—(Advt.)

(By Associated Press.)
NEW YORK, Jan. 31.—The amateur
championship of the world at long dis
tance wireless telegraphy is, claimed by
W. J. Howell, a nineteen-year-old
operator, who from a station of his
own design at his home in the Bronx,
asserts that he picked up a message
from Germany.
Young Howell says he heard the new
1,000-foot steamship Imperator, which
is nearing completion at Cuxhaven, Ger
many, while the steamship was testing
its wireless equipment.
"My aerial is only forty-eight feet
long,” he said, “which makes it remark
able that I could hear the steamer at
such a distance. It was communicat
ing with high-powered stations here. I
interrupted to ask the local station who
it was I overheard and I learned it was
the Imperator, which I verified by other
inquiries.”

Folsom Prison Convict Gains
Another Lease on
His Life
(By Associated Press-)
SACRAMENTO, Cal., Feb. 1.—Charles
Carson, the Folsom prison convict who
is under sentence of death for partici
pation in an attempted prison break in
April, 1906, will not be hanged until the
state asylum authorities decide that he
has regained his sanity. A jury decided
yesterday that Carson is insane, and he
was taken to an asylum.
Carson has been in solitary confine-
met since he was convicted i the local
courts early seven years ago. At a
former trial the physicians did not
think Carson insane, but since that time
the electrical, the opium and the hyp
notic tests have ben applied to him, all
without causing him to speak a word.
No one has heard him speak in more
than two years.

Mrs. McCurry by Pitts.

FRENCH LINER HELPLESS
IN SEA OFF SABLE ISLAND
NEW YORK, Jan. 31.—Although the
officers of steamers docking today re
ported the Atlantic ocean as at last be
coming docile after a display of violent
temper for the last three months, the
French liner Mexico, which sailed from
here a week ago, is helpless at sea off
Sable island, after an encounter with
an easterly gale. She lost her propeller
in the storm. Her wireless calls for
help are being answered by the Leyland
liner Devonian, which was less than
200 miles distant yesterday and which
will probably reach the disabled liner
today.
The French liners Florida and Caro
lina have also been notified and one or
the other will probably pick up the dis
abled sister and tow her to Halifax. Al
though the Mexico is a passenger car
rier of the secondclass, there were no
passengers aboard on this trip. Agents
of the line here declare they have no
fears for her safety.

from the National City bank of Cam

of most of the loot in fake faro games

was being paid $200 a night to guard the
gambling place, according to a version
of a confession by Koliher published
here today.
Koliher, commonly known as “Big
Bill,” is serving- asentence as an accom
plice of Coleman’s in the loot of the
bank, but Walsh has never been appre
hended. His friends have said that he
is dead.
“While the police were looking for
Walsh,” Koliher is quoted as saying,
“he was in the home of a New York
police official. In thus caring for Walsh
the officer was merely repaying past
favors. The official guarded the gam
bling house all the time that Walsh and
I were there. The lieutenant got $200 a
night. The play never lasted more than
fifteen minutes.
“We went in, laid our money down

over. The play was apparently going
on, but the victim was taken away from
the table to get a glass of wine or a
cig&r and then he was taken out. Every
time .we were there the lieutenant got
$200. I figure that he got about $20,000
| out of Walsh and myself for guard duty.
“Ilis duty was to take care of poor
losers who tried to make trouble and to
protect us from a raid.”
v Koliher, the story adds, says he and
Walsh spent $3,000 to help the lieuten

WOMEN PLAN TO

(By Associated Press.)
CHICAGO, Jan. 31.—Chicago women
who recently were successful in lower
ing the price of eggs by popular public
gales now are going into the apple
business. This time, however, they are
going to give the retail grocer a chance
—if he wants it—to fill their orders. If
he does not care to sell at the prices
named, then the women will fill the or
ders themselves. That the retailer may
not lose the women will make arrange
ments with wholesalers so that he can
purchase his apples at a price low
enough to insure a good profit at retail.
Fridays and Saturdays will be sales
days.
According to members of the Wom

in the apple crusade, there are 5,000,000
barrels and 6,000,00.0 boxes of apples
held in cold storage in Chicago await-,

One disadvantage which the music-1
lover of today often feels is the high
price of instruments, especially of
pianos and organs. The music-lover who
longs for a piano or organ, and hesitates
to pay the exorbitant prices of the aver
age dealer, has a distinct friend in the
famous Cornish Company of Washing-
styles from which to choose. Then or
der a piano on your own terms—one
ton, N. J. In fact, it is doubtful if a
more liberal offer has ever been made
by a national advertiser than by the
Cprnish Company. They make the most
liberal terms .allow the longest free
trial, and give a legal bond which com
pels them to return the purchaser s! ParaqonTailoring Co., Dept, zot, Chicago, III,
