THE ATLANTA SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL, ATLANTA, GA., FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1913. LOST RFAUTY IM,III,III LOST IN OF WOMEN 1 11 EIII,MENT SM Can Be Remedied, in Many In stances, According to State ment of Mrs. Lucile McElroy Laurel, Miss:—In a letter from this place, Mrs. Lucile McElroy says: “I was sick for three years, with backache, headache, pains In my stomach and back, low down.. At times, I could not do a thing, I was so weak. After I was married, I thought I 'would try Cardui, the womans tonic, ■and after using: two or three bottles, I couldn’t tell one day from another—felt good all the time. I not only still use Cardui, but advise every lady I think needs it, to give it a trial, and several whom I have persuad ed, say they have- obtained great re lief. Another good thing I have noticed about Cardui, is that it fills out hollows under the eyes, which are sunken as if from a bad spell of sickness. It fleshens up a woman’s eyes v and makes them look bright and plump. Many a woman woiild be pretty if it were not for her. sunken-in eyes. I believe that Cardui, the woman’s tonic, is the only treatment for women.” Do you suffer from womanly trouble? If so, give Cardui, the woman’s tonic, a trial. Judging from the experience of a mil lion other women who have been bene fited by this* remedy, it should surely do you good. N. B.—Write to: Chattanooga Medicine Co., Ladies'* Advisory Dept., Chattanooga, Tenn., for Special Instructions on your case and f>4-page book, “Home Treatment-for Women,” sent in plain wrapper.— (Advt.) Coming of The Sunbeam How to Avoid Those Pains and Distress Which so Many Mothers Have Suffered. It is a pity more women do not know of Mother’s Friend. Here is a remedy that softens the muscles, enables them to expand without any strain upon the liga ments and enables women to go through the ordeal without pain, nausea, morning sickness or any of the dreaded symptoms so familiar to many mothers. /. There is no foolish diet to harass the mind. The thoughts do not dwell upon pain and suffering, for all such are avoided. Thousands of women no longer resign themselves to the thought that sickness and distress are natural. They know better, for In Mother’s Friend they have found how easy it is with this wonderful penetrating remedy to banish all those dreaded experi ences which have been talked about ever since memory began. It is a subject every woman should be familiar with, and even though she may not require such a; remedy, she will now and then meet some prospective mother to whom a word in time about Mother’s Friend will come as a wonderful blessing. This famous remedy is sold by all druggists, and Is only $1.00 a bottle. It Is for external use only, and is really worth its weight in. gold. It is declared that more than one- tenth of the annual output of men’s and youths’ ready-made clothing, amounting to $30,000,000 has been lost to the Industries in this cit5 r and the loss in waffes to workmen is estimat ed at $10,000,000. This does not in clude the losses incurred by the strikes in the women’s garment industry. There is no sign of peace in sight today. One manufacturer said that the industry already had lost the great er part of the season’s business and that further negotiations with the strik ers were out of the question. A pro posal made by the United Manufactur ers association more than a week ago however, including provision for a fif ty-two hour week and an increase in wages of from 6 to 10 per cent was to be. voted on today by the garment cutters. LONDON, Feb. 5.—Sylvia Pankhurst, militant suffragette leader, was Sen tenced to two weeks’ imprisonment or a fine of $10 today. On that occasion the women tried to force their way into parliament to obtain an interview with David Lloyd-George. They were arrested and charged with resisting the police. As Miss Pankhurst was leaving the police court for the cells today she shouted: “I shall not serve this sentence.” Tfais is probably correct, a3 the lead ers of the militants have become tired of jail and tlteir fines are now invaria bly paid by some thirji party within a few hours of their imprisonment. WASHINGTON,- Feb. 4.—“Loan sharks” in the capital, credited with do ing an enormous business among gov ernment clerks, received a blow today when President Taft signed the “loan shark” bill limiting their charges ' and also those of pawnbrokers to 1 per cent a month. Passage of the bill had been fbught for years in congress and the money lenders appealed personally to the president to veto it. tion was agreed to by a vote of 37 to 36. The Republicans had mustered most of their strength for the test, and several Democrats were absent and un paired. Senator Hoke Smith, of the Democrat ic patronage committe; John Sharp Wil liams and a number of qther senators, were on hand primed for the executive session, and they ’have the support of the entire Democratic membership in the chamber. The usual plart of delay was pursued and not a single nomina tion was confirmed. The time was taken up by the mem bers in speeeches, the reading of govern ment reports, points of order and in numerable roll calls. Senator Bacon presided.
