The following were tbe casb quotations co cr«;ii and the prevlv ?» close: T 'HE hens break the record by laying more than double the number of eggs laid last year in the same month. S. C. White Leghorns from England arc in the lead. Hens with feed before them at all times are mak ing the best record in the feeding experiment. Points on selecting breeding stock. The hens and pullets in the Na tional Egg Laying Contest at Mountain Grove, Mo., more than doubled the record made by hens in the same month for the previous year. The yield .for January one year ago was 3,203 eggs, and the yield for January this year was 7,01 G eggs. The total ioy the first two and a half months this yearv was 12,970 eggs, or 1,567 eggs more in two and a half months this year than in three months of last . year. We attribute this to the fact that we have more pullets this year and the winter has not been so severe as last, and our pens . most all appear to be of better quality. They are consuming more feed than last year. A Canadian Black Orpington pullet in pen 59 laid **very day in Jan uary, laying thirty-on'* eggs in the thirty-onb days. The pen of S. C. Market stronger on all middle grades, with, a better supply of feed steers, which continue to find a ready demand at present quotations, which are con sidered good In vlew r of the large number of feeders shipping this class of beef cattle to this as well as other markets at this time. As usual, February and the early part of March most the winter feelers put their cat tle on the market and during this period a sag in prices on the better grades of fed cat tle is noticeable. There is a splendid de mand for medium cattle in good flesh and es pecially ihe better grades of heavy butcher cow stuff with quality. ► R. C. Walker, of McDonough, Ga., shipped the best load of steers received this week, averaging about 1.200 pounds, tbree-.Vear-olds. Short Horn and fnt. The twenty-eight head netted him more than $2,000, and were sold to an Atlanta packing house. These steers were good enough for any market and a credit to the feeder. Henry county feeders continue to hold the first place In tbe matter of feeding and pro ducing high-class beef for our local market. Enough cattle are reported from scattering sections to insure a fair run for the Incoming week, and with the present active demand, prices are expected to be raintained. Hog receipts continue normal, quality ir regular and market uneven for the reason of the mixed kinds coming. LIVE STOCK BY WIRE. ST.
