FAIR VIEW FARM
Palmetto, Ga.
(By Associated Press.) r
NEW YORK. Nov. 6.—Reports of freer south
ern spot offerings and favorable picking
weather seemed to inspire selling at cotton’s
opening. First prices were steady, but the mar
ket quickly ehsiMl off 7 to 11 poinVa under
liquidation and southern selling. Expectations
of a bearish crop estimate from a traveling
expert may have encouraged the early selling
movement In connection with private wires
from Galveston claiming a less active spot
demand.
The wea’her showed practically no rain in
the south and early indications pointed to lit
tle or no precipitation.
Some trade # buying developed on the early de
cline which steadied the market during the mid
dle of the morning, but nothing more than
slight rallies occurred and prices at midday
were about 6 ro 9 points net lower.
The market was compnrtlvely quiet during
the early afternoon with prices ruling 4 or 5
points under yesterday’s closing. There did not
seem to be ns much southern selling here as
early sellers had expected and the rally from
tlie early low point reflected some covering
and a little trade buying.

NEW ORLEANS COTTON.
NEW ORLEANS, Nov. C.—Cotton futures
opened steady, 1 point up to 2 points down
compared with the close of yesterday. Cables
were somewhat better than due but the market
received little support anil fell off Immediately
after the .call. Bears mode much of the good
i weather map, no rain of consequence being
j shown in the cotton region. Selling orders in-
I <Teaser1 and at the end of the first half hour
. f business prices were O to 8 points under the
last quotation of yesterday.
The market was quiet, but steady throughout
the morning. Prices had a tendency to work
lower and recoveries were short lived, but ft'-
the same time the market was narrow and the
losses were only moderate. A depressing influ
ence was the rumor that a local crop expert
was coming out with a large crop estimate,
one report claiming that the figures would be
15,000.000 bales. At noon th emarket was dull
at a net loss of 8 to 10 points.

HAYWARD & CLARK’S COTTON LETTER
NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 0.—Liverpool
came in rather disappointing with futures bare
ly up to the mark; spots, 4 points higher;
sales, 10,000 bales. Our market opened a few
points lower and soon became easy. The ab
sence of the leading support is dis'inctly felt,
and good weather today was an additional In
centive to realize. The Wall .Street Journal
prints an article pointing out the attractions
and prospects for a big crop uext year. That
such matters should be dealt with at this time
certainly shows intention.
New York advices have lately frequently re
ported Wall street gelling and this morning
reported :he leading spot house as a seller.
The absence of stimulating markets is also
affecting spot holders. Local buyers report
more offers of better gtades from several lo
calities.
On the whole, the opinion pevails that the
present dullness and reactionary tendency is
being fos'ered for the purnose of weeding out
but that the facts of the situation are too
strong to allow of much depression.
The map shows an extensive storm formation
over the northwest as a basis for a spell of bad
weather in the near future. The Cordill esti
mate also hangs over the market, keeping sup
port In suspense.. Spot people today report
somewhat rooe offerings and prices slightly
easier to trade.
New York says that technical conditions there
ar e not yet satisfactory. Too much scattered
long interest. Heavy selling by the McFadden
Interests this morning.
NEW YORK COTTON LETTER.
NEW YORK, Nov. 6.—Liverpool responded to
yesterday’s advance but selling on *’and after
cal by brokers closely identified with the larger
spot interests, caused the market to sag off
in the first hour. The principal support has
come from certain spot Interests, who have
all along advocated the bull side. This buying
it is said, was based on a better.spot demand
in the Atlantic*. Outside business has been
light but the majority of orders coming in seem
to be on the selling side. The average operator
Is apparently evening up pending the Cordill
report, which is-expected will be bearish. One
thing restricting buying is the fart that we
have had two bullish ginning reports and other
bullish factors, none of which lias had the ef
fect of stimulating prices to any extent. Many
believe the technical position is still against
any rally of consequence, and until this con
dition is materially changed, the market may
have a sagging tendency, but it Is very prob
able that around 13 cents, would bring out con-
siderale trade buying.—Anderson.
NEW YORK COFFEE MARKET
COTTON SEED OIL MARKET.
NEW YORK, Nov. fl.—The market wa» quiet
with prices steady owing to light crude offer
ings support from the professional element and
in sympathy with the strength in lard. The pit
crowd are bearish but not backing up their
convictions with selling orders.—Pearsall.

together with an increasing movement of actual
