Then how can Governor Colquitt, even presume, to claim for himsclt and his administra. tion credit for that which under legis lative enactments would have obtain ed, it mattered not who was Chief Magistrate ? The Governor in his nioct active and zealous canvass for re-election says in his speeches that he has reduced expenses about the Executive Department from the man who sweeps the floors to the most im portant official about the State iiouse. I dare say this is true, for the appro priation act of the Legislature only allows the Governor so much money for these expenses, and under this act ville and Nashville, the Western and Atlantic and the Central railroads, and how they -re at the bottom ot and cbntrobing the recent movements in Georgia, how natural it is tor the Atlanta Constitution at one end and tlie Savannah iVewA at the other,'not to want all tho tacts brought to the- front.
