An enthusiasm is awaking through the State, and the tide of popular favor swelling towards our University town. The Deputy Sheriff, who w ith four citizens, of Jaeksou county passed through our city on Thursday last iu search of Arter who is suspected of killing Mrs. Hill, slept in Watkinsville on that night. Arter did the same, pa-sing the night in a w agon shed. The deputy returned to Athens yes* t-iday morning, en route to Jackson county with his horse foundered. The tour citizens are now in pursuit. He served well the office during that pe riod in which Congress failed to make nn appropriation tor the pay of Dep uty Marshals, and it would seem bat right and just that he aliould have been continued in office, n«w that ar rangements have been made to make the pay more certain.
