TEe average daily receipts of cot ton in Athens for the past week were about 500 hale-, making the round aggregate of 3,000 bales for the week. How is that for business? Head on tlie Track. Saturday alternoon a white woman was f»und dead on the Air-Line track, between New Holland and Sulphur Spring station. She was found in a sitting posture, and her legs were badly burned. Further information than this, our inlbtniant did net learn. Died, At the residence of R. L. Blooms field, Esq , on Friday 22nd Sept. inst. at 11A o’clock, a. in., Mrs. Caroline Rogers in the 84th year of her age. She was the widow of R. K. Rogers, 1>. D., who departed this life at same place in January, 1879. Her remains lett Athens yesterday for interment in New Jersey. Train Stoned. As the train from Augusta neared Crawfordville, yesterday morning two stones were thrown into the forward passenger conch. One of them struck a passenger on the shoulder, without hurting him, and an old man was cut on the chin by the fragment# of glass made by the other. The perpetrator of the act is t ot known ; but he can be caught if proper effort is made. Election Day. To the Editor of the Banner: An impression has gone abroad that elec tion day is on the first M ednesday in November, when it is thcjfrsf Tues* day. This mistake would he fatal in its result-, and if general, would ren der the election null and vuid. Please print this, and do all you can to let the people know that the first Tues day, to-wit the 2d day cf November, is election day, and that under the new Constitution no vote can be re ceived outside of the county of the person offering to vote.
