(J c i CO ) 5 I y Scrofula, or King’s Evil, is a mstitutionul disease, a corruption of the b’oocl, by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, aud may burst out in disease on any part of it. N-. organ is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The scrofu lous taint is variously caused by mercurial di-ease, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. What ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitu tion, descending “ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation indeed, it seems to be th.- rod of Him who says, “ I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children.” Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lung-, liver, and internal organs, is termed tuber cles ; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints,bu«4iey have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; con sequently, va-t numbers pefisTi l v disorder- which, although not scrofulous in their nature, arc still ren dered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human lamily has its or;g it directly in this scrofulous contamina tion ; and many destructive diseases jf the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, ar.se from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persons are ir.vad d by this lurking infection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the sy-tem we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy lood and exercise. Such a medicine we sunply in AYER’S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every where pre vailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the most active rcntcdials that have been discovered for the (xpurgation of this foul di-order from the blood, and flic rescue of the system from its destructive consequences, lienee it should be employed for the ci ie of not only scrofula, but also those other affections which ari-e from it, such as Ekuptivh and -Skiv Disea-f.s, St. Anthony’s Fiue, Rose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Plains and Boils, Tumors, Tetter and Salt Rheum, Suai.d Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mercurial Diseases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed. ai.i. Complaints ARISING FROM VlTlATED OR IMPURE Bl.OOD. The popular belief in “ impair it/ of the blood ” i- founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in con taminated constitutions. Ayer’s Cathartic Fills, F(D ALL THE PU.1F03ES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC, arc so composed th^r. disease within the ranpe of their action can rarely withstand or evade them. Their pen etrating properties searuh, and cleanse, and invigorate every portion of the human organi m, correcting its diseased action, end restoring its healthy vitalities. As a consequence of these properties, the invalid who 13 bowed down with pain or physical del ilitvis astonished to find his health or energy restored hy a remedy at once so simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body, but also many formidable and danunous diseases. The agent below* named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing •certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the follow* ing complaints : Cost iron ess.
