Tire—This morning, a little before 2 o’clock, a fire broke out in the stable of Mr John Corgan, in Cheapside near Market- street, which soon communicated to sever al adjoining buildings, and extended to Lombardy-street, and for some time threat ened destruction to the entire block between Market and Catharinc-strects. ' Extract qfan Ordinance, To amend an Ordinance "Entitled an Ordinance to establish a Board of Health for the City of Savannah, and for ventilating and cleansing un. occupied building within satu city.” See. I. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Alder, men of the City of Savannah in Comcil assembled, and K is hereby ordained by the authority of the same. That from and after the passage of this or dinance it shall be the duty of the owner or own ers of all untenanted or unoccupied stores, houses, nr buildings within the limits of the City of Sayan* nsh, to be opened, and ventilated, at least once in every week, untilthe tenth day of November next, and once in every week from the first day of May to the tenth day of November in each and ever; year afterwards, and that every owner of auci untenahted or unoccupied stores, buildings, or houses, as aforesaid, who shall fail or omit to cause the hi me to be opened and ventilated as aforesaid, shall, on conviction thereof before Couneil, be fined in a sum not exceeding Thirty Dolars for each and every failure or omission. Whereas great inconvenience and danger re- results to the Inhabitants of the City of Savannah from horses and other animals running at large in the said city Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah, in Council assembled, and it is hereby ordained by the authority of the some that no horse, gelding, mare, colt, filly, mule, Or jackass, shall be -allowed to go at large within the limits of said city. And be it further ordained that ail nnd every owner or owners of any horse, gelding, more, colt, filly, mule, or jackass, that shall be lound at large shall be fined for each and every offence in a sum not exceeding Five Dollsrs and cost. Be it further nrdtined by the authority afore said, that it shall be the duty of the City Marshal and of the City Constable to take up and impound any and every animal that may be seen or known to be going at large within the corporate limits of the city, and the owner or owners of such ani mal or smimal.s so taken op and impounded shall pay all expences that may be thereby incurred in addition to the penalty imposed by the above re cited ordinance. *- In Council 9th August, 1819.
