C. to the editors of the Register say s—“Mr. Craw- ford is gaining grpund fast in this county. 1 f the election had taken place in August* lie would not have received two-fifths of the votes; now life will get a majority, .'mid iie is still gaining” MASSACHUSETTS.—An intcUifcent gentleman who lips travelled through .the, ulterior of Massachusetts says the great mass of the people are opposed to Adariis*, and in fuvortoffllie unpledged ticket. , INDIANA.—Recent intelligence from Indiana, (says the Cincinnati Gazfette,) prove beyond a doubt that the stale is safe for Mr. Clay. Tlie friends of Gen. Jack- sdn, agreeably to.previous arrangements, have held their convention at Satcm.: All the Jacksoniana wore duly notified, and great exertions were mode; but the con vention proved a sad adventure for the Jackson party. Hardly one-third of Hie counties were represented at all! In Inany of them the persons who met to choose delegates were not u moYt than enotigh to constitute the officers of the meetingIn Switzerland county but 14 persons attend ed. In Harrison county a meeting to choose a delegatc was called; but not a single individual appeared. In the New Purchase not a meeting was lipid, except in the county of Shelby. Li Jennings no meeting could lie -got up. A gentleman, however, from that county had the curi osity to go to Salem , aud Jbehold he was re ceived at a delegate ! ’ , KENTUCIvA'.—A meeting of the fricuds' of Gen. Jackson, was held in’ Frankfort, (Ivy.) on the 2d tilt. The most favorable opportunity (says a Frank fort paper,) for holding the meeting was selected; it was appointed to he held on the same day with a Regimental Muster; it was advertised twice in the Western Volunteer; the State-hodsc bell was three Ames rung, to give notice to the citizens ; and finally the meeting yfas opened in. the Representatives chamber jnsf after tlip Regiment wqs dismissed in the front of the State-house: the day was fine; and it was thought that the military excitement pf the occasion would for the morrfent at least, favor the pretensions of the Military Hero.
