W HEREAS Jolin W. Long assignee of the un
derwriters at Lloyds fn London, in'the
Kingdom of Great Britain, the' supposed insurers
of the Ship Albion add cargo, bus exhibited his
libel or complaint, in the District Court of the U-
nltcd States, fort lie District of Georgia; stating,
alleging nnd propounding, that the British Siiip
Albion, laden with Mahogany, Logwood, nnd di
vers other articles, was, on the morning of the 15t h
September Inst, by the force of the wind nnd
waves driven on the benrli of Saint Catherines
island, in the District aforesaid, 'nnd there aban
doned by hcrcrew ; and that much of the cargo
has Hooted out of the said Ship, some part of which
bus been taken by George H. Johnston, Patrick
Houston and George M. Waldburg, and by (livers
other persons, to a place of greater snl'ety, an if
that part tlieref still lies on the bench of said
Island, below high water mark exposed to the sen
That the Agent oi tile underwriters at Lloyds, un
der the impression that the said Ship mid cargo
were insured at l.loyds, has forthc benefit of nil
concerned, sold the interest of the said underwri
ters aforesaid, therein at publick sale to’John \V.
Long. But the said persons, wlm have removed
a part of the cai'go to a place of greater safety,
claim to be entitled to salvage theropn, and pray
ing process of this court to take the Said wreck
nnd the snid cargo, or so much thereof, as is to lie
found within the jurisdiction of this Court, into
the custody of the Court for the benefit oftliissnid
libellant, and all persons concerned, nnd printing
a monition ngninst the snid George, Patrick, and
Geofge, nnd all other persons, claiming to be en
titled to snlvnge to appear and establish such their
clnhnsand also to all persons intercstedto appear,
and shew cause why the said wreck and her car
go shall not be adjudged to the said John W.
Lung, assignee, ns nforesnid, of the underwriters
nl Lloyds, and for further proceedings. Now
therefore, you the said Murshal, are hereby com
manded to attach, seize, (nkn, nnd safely keep the
remains ofthc said Ship Albion and her cargo,
wheresoever within the jurisdiction of tills Court,
or in the possession of whomsoever to lie found,
to answer the snid libel, nnd you are further com
manded to cite nnd admonish the said George,
Patrick, and George, and all other persohs, claim
ing to 1>q entitled io snlvnge in ibis behalf to ap
pear before this Court, and there establish sucli
their claim and further to cite and ndninnish all
mid every person mid persons, whomsoever hav
ing or pretending to have any right, title, interest,
property, claim or demand in, or to the said wreck
or to the cargo thereof, to be, undappenrul a spe
cial Court ol Admiralty, to be held at Savannah,
on tiie Twelfth day of November next, to answer
the libellant in the premises that right nnd justice
may tic done in this behalf. And whatsoever you
shall do, in this regurd certify aiid make known
to the Judge of suid Court.at the time and place
aforesaid; and have you then and there this writ.

Take Notice.
T HE Managers and Assistants of Fire Engines
will oil Monday, the )5//i inst, prOcocd to
make an- examination of Buckets, Ladders, &c.
throughout the City. All persons not complying
With the following sections of nn Ordinance for
preventing accidents by Fire &c, will be returned
to Council.
Sec. 10. And be it further ordained, That every

house within the limits and Jurisdiction
Citv, occupied and tenanted, shall be supplied
with buckets at the exnense of the owners of
said premises, to the nfimbdr of at least the num
ber of five-places In the some, including such ns
are in the out-buildings, and the suid buckctsshall
be equal in goodness and size to those procured
for the use of the Clty,und painted,on which shall
be painted in visible characters the name of the
owneiftof said buckets; nrd in cn> the owner of
any house or tenement should refuse or neglect
to have the said buckets supplied agreeably to
this ordinance, it shall and maybe lawful for the
tenant to procure the same, deducting it out of
his rent.
Sr.c. 11 And be it further ordained, That the
owner of-every improved, wharf shall furnish
twenty buckets for the building or buildings on
such wimrf, und deliver them to Mnnagers and
'Assistants of the Engines, on or before the second
meeting of Council in July next; and the receipt
of any Mannger or Assistant, for such buckets,
sliull be deemed n full compliance with this sec
tion, by the owner, for the number of buckets
mentioned in sitid receipt; And the owner of
every stoto in the City, that has no fire-plnce or
places attached to the same,shall furnish two fire-
buckets Mr every store of such kind, nnd uqder
such regulations os other landlords arc by this or
dinance required to do.
Sue. 12. And be it further ordained, That every
owner of a wooden house or houses, brick, or
stone house,or houses covered with wood,occupi
ed its dwelling-houses or kitchens,shall provide the
same with n sufficient ladder, or have a scuttle or
door cut through the roof of such house or houses,
large enough for a man to pass through conve
niently, under the pouantly of n fine not excee
ding thirty dollars.

will, as soon os they arc gone, be equally true of
those in which we live.
It is not only, therefore, ns n vehicle of present
information, but also ns a book for future reference
—nsa National Political Repository and Text-Book
that we hope this work will be both useful and
popular.
From the lowness of the subscription to this
work, it will be seen that it is no part of our !cul-
culation to realize any present profit from it. On
the contrary, we shall, m all probability, lose mo
ney by it fur u yenr or two, hoping that thereafter

Tiie work will he printed in the octavo form, on
a super royal paper, made for thiymrpose, nnd on

prising nearly as much matter ns one of the co
lumns of the National Intelligencer.
It will contain us full And accurate Reports ns
can lie obtained, of all Debates on main questions,
and of all interesting Debates on incidental ques
tions; 'with an Apjsenditf containing a list of the
Members of each House, the Yens and Nays in
eacli House on questions which' have been the
subject of Debate, such Documents, connected
with the subjects of Dqbate, ns may be deemed
essential to enable the reader to comprehend
them, and proper indexes to tire whole.
The Debates oft he next Session, it is computed,
will, with the Appendix, make n volume of five
hundred pages, at least, and will be furnished to
subscribers through the Post Office, in sheets, us
published, (or reserved at this Office, at the sub
scriber’s option,) nt ’riinr.K dollars for the vol
ume, be it more or less, to be paid in advance in all
cases of transmission beyond the limits of the city.
The sheets will be transmitted as completed,
without regard to any particular days, as the pub
lication must of course be regulated by the prepar
ation of the matter of which it is to be composed.
The subscription will in no case; unless within
the city, and not then unless specially indicated,
be understood to extend beyond the volume ac

The Debates of tiie Session of Congress follow
