O N the petition of Nicholas J. Bayard, dating
tbit Ray Sqnds', on'the fifth day of June eigh
teen hundred and twenty-four, for the better se
curing the paympht of his certain bond or writing
obligatory, hearing dale the day and year afore
said, Whereon he the said Ray acknowledged jiim-
self held and hound unto the said Nicholas J. Bay
ard, in the penal sum of four thousand dollars
conditioned for the pay mat of one thousand dpi,
lars on or before the first day of October then
next, and the further sum of one thousand dollars
on die first day (rf January tiion next, did Mort
gage all that tract, piece, or parcel of land, lying,
being and situate on Cumberland Island in the
county of Camden, and known by the name of
Cotton dliiff, containing’four hundred and-fifty
acres, bounded on the nbrth by lands Of .Shierer,
oh the south by lauds -of Nathaniel Greep, and on
the west by salt jnafsh, together with the'qppurte
nances—and farther stating that the sald. sums of

On motion oftV. W. Gordon, attorney for the
petitioner, it is prdered that the.saldRay Sands do

thirty to sixly feet, an'd to average forty feet in
length, top end to bo'not less (liar, ten inches,and

Two hundred and fifty knees, the arm to side
eight inches, length of body six feet six inches,

be of tlie best quality of white oak, free from sap,
baikuotk and other defects.
