Swaim’s Vermifuge.
Patent.
THIS valuable Antl-dysen-
tenc and Worm Mrdicine lias
been used for these seven
years past, and its virtues are
universally acknowledged by
all trim have tried it, to bi far superior to
any other medlclno over employod for
most diseases children are subject to. It is
perfectly safe, ami no child will refuse to
tnke ir. It soMom fails curing Dysentery,
Summer Complaint, Colic or Clsolorn
Morbus, either lit grown persons or children
and It gives appetite to almost ell debilita
ted persons. Worms frequent ly infest cliii
dron, aggravate their other diseases, nnd
ore the chief cause of most fevers, bowel
complaint!, and chronic and nervous disras.
es, incident to childhood, which nroso.nu
morons and frequently fatal. * '
regretted that most vermifuges ..
ere injurious, andthousoiidsofehildren are
swopt off, or are rendered feeble, pale and
euianciated through the first stage of life
—which leads on to pulmonary complaints
&o. die. See,
Worms being especially apt to Infest
persons of debilitated digestiva organs nnd
emaciated constitutions, much mischief is
often done by the ordinary worm medi
cines, which generally consist of tho strong
est purgatives, mercurials, biltors, narco
tics, or spirits of turpentine. Articles of
thia kind may destroy tvormi, but they do-
bilitate the stomach, and often materially
Injure the goneral health. Swaim’s Vkr-
MtrooE bat the peculiar advantage of de
stroying and removing worms from the
liowels without the weakening consequen
ces of the stronger purgatives. Ac.—and
it has, moreover, a decided tendency to
give vigor both to the ttuiniich and bowels
mid organs of digestion—thereby,relieving
tho general system from many troublesome
complaints. It ia by this n.eans that so
many grown persons have been relieved,
by its utc, of different complaints—suppo
sing themselves to be in a decline, &c. &c
This medicine will relieve bowel com
; daints or dysentery, bilious cholic, vomit-
i n/f, sickness,-pain or weakness in the sto
mach or bowels, loss of appetite, either in
children or grown persons, in a few hours;
and it seldom fails curing chills and ri
vals on fever ague. No family ought,
or ever will be withotg it, after a trial.
Worms are capable of producing great
disturiunees in the system. Not only du
they aggravate ordinary diseases when they
ere present, but they also give rise to a
great variety of very alarming anomalous
affections. The whole train of spasmodic &
convulsive diseases may ptoceed from the
irritation of worms in the alimentary canal.
Cholera, epilepsy, catalepsy, tetanus, pa
ralysis, mania, convulsions, as well ns a
variety of other nervous smd convulsive
affections, are not nnfrequentiy the imme
diate effect, of this cause Besides these
diseases, worms have also been known to
produce pleuritic and rheumatic pains,dys
entery, remitting fever,dropsy of the hrain,
chronic and spasmodic cough, &c. Ac.
Stc,
Among the symptoms which indicate
tlnf presence of worms, the following arc
the most common and striking:—A pale,
leaden-coloured, and occasionally flushed
countenance; a bluish streak under the
eyes, these are dull and heavy, the pupils
are dilated nnd much contracted, the low
or eyelids and upper lip swell, especially
during tho night while sleeping; great
itching in the nostrils, whioh causes the
patient to pick his noso; foul breath; dis
turbed sloop; during which the patient
grinds his teeth, is apt to scream out nnd
startup suddenly ns if frightened: tingling
in the cars; giddiness; interrupted speech;
palpitation of the honrt n dry spasmodic
cough; irregular and depraved nppotite,
being sometimes entirely suppressed, and
at others exceedingly voracious; abdomen
swelled and hard; looseness of the bowels;
coitiveness; unnatural, slimy,or foul stools;
pains in the bowels; wasting of the flesh;
convulsions; fits; palsy; and Anally death.
