CONGRESS SPRING OR SARATO
GA WATERS.
T HERE is perhaps soarcoly an indi
vidual in the United States, who -
not acquainted, either by. experience nr
report, w|ih the sa tilarv effects or the
Congress Spimg Waters at Saratoga
From shirty to fllty thousand persons an
nually visit these Springs, many from the
remotesuectionsof the United Slntes, and
some from the West Indies, and oilier for
elgn place,s. The great expense in visiting
the Springs excludes the greater portion of
the ronummitr, (more than njpo out of
ten.) and the liotlled water, from Its high
( irie.e, prevents its use to the extent of lie-
ng siirvieoable, and confines it to a small
number ; it npponrs to bn a serious evil
l(|ot ;n valuable an iirlicte should bo so les-
trlcted, that comparatively forv should he
able to enjoy what is so conducive to gen
eral health in, the hot weather of nor smn-
mor months- From these circumstances,
Geo. VV. Cnrpentcr is pleased to announce
the preparation of die above powders, con
taining all the essential substances with
w hich those celebrated Springs are impreg
nated, and ftom which til* miters of the
Congress Springs at Saratoga are precise
ly and effectulitly imitated. Willi a view
to accomniodale the publio, nnd to bring
into general use so convenient end valua
ble a substitute for these waters, lie-has
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to pul them at a
price to ho within the reach of most per
sons. For the nccommddation of the pub
lic, agents will he appointed in all tile ci
ties and principal inland awns to give u
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout tho country. The public are
recommended to make trial of these pow
ders, as lie finds by experience, end from
the opinion of the most eminent of the fa
culty, that tho water made from them pos
sesses gie same medicinal qualities,' is as
effectual in Woperotions,* and precise, in
taste, as that taken immediately from the
Springs. These powdersure therefore re
commended as n valuald- remedy in ail
cases tshcro til,e Saratoga Waters are pre-
femltih sea voynges,or residing at a
Istance (four thlusprios, and in wain)
cllHiates, will nt once jroycoivo the great
advantage of iiiakinjfufr of these powders
which besides being more portable, and
less expensive Ilian the bottled water, will
keep without irijury, for any .length,of time,
as liiey are equal in medical effect to that
taken fresli from the springs, tliev are cer
tainly much preferable from the many ad-
05 s " These powders are superior to the
Sejdlitz, inasmuch as they are equally a.
perient and agreenlile, at the same time
cpnstjtutioits than any othof cathartic ih
use. 7" - •:' l '•-.-■•-•-..if i-
