CONORESS SPRING OR SARATO
(1A IVATF.US.
T HERE is perhaps scarcely an indi-
vidital In the United States, who is
not acquainted, either by experience nr
report, with the sa ntary e(feels of the
Congress Spinig Waters at Saratoga
From thirty to filty thousand persons an-
nually visit these Springs, many from the
remotest seeiinns of ihe United Slates, and
some from the West Indies, and other for
eign places. Tlte great expense in visiting
the Springs excludes Ihe greaier portion of
tho community, (more than nine out of
ten.) and Ihe bottled water, from its high
price, prevents its use to the extent of he.
iiigsurviueable, null oonfinos it to a small
number; it appears to he a serious evil
lltnt io Valuable an article should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should he
able to enyiiy what is so conducive In gen.
era! health in the hot weather of our sum
mer months. From those eircumslanres,
lieu. W. Carpontcr is pleased to nimmmce
the preparation of tho above powders, con
taining all the esseiitial substances with
w hich these celebrated Springs are impreg
nated, and fiom which Ihe waters of tho
Congress Spring.'xit Saratoga me precise
ly and effectually imitated. With a view,
to accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use so convenient anil valua
ble a substitute for iheso waters, lie has
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, tn pot them at a
price ta be within the reach nf most per
sons. For tho accomAindminn nf (lie pub
lic, agents will be appointed in all the ci
ties and principal inland raw ns to give a
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout the country. The public are
recommended to make trial of these pow
ders, as lie finds by experience, and from
tlie opinion of the most eminent of tho fa
culty, that tho water made from them pos
sesses the sam. medicinal qualities, is as
efleclual in its operations, and precise in
taste, as that tiikeu immediately from tho
Springs. These powders arc therefore re
commended as a. valnobl - remedy in all
cases where the Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed.
Persons on sea voyages, or residing at a
distance from the springs, and in warm
climates, will at once perceive the great
ndvanlago of making use uf these powders,
ivluch besides being more portable and
less expensive (him the bottled water, will
keep without injury for eny length oT time,
as they are equal.in medionl effect to that
laken fresli from the springs, tliev are cer
tainly much preferable from ’-l.e many ad
vantage. they poises.,
K?" The-J, powders are superior to Ihe
Scldl',;*, inasmuch as they are equally a.
perienl and agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and chnlybeuto qualities in
< superior degree, and aro consequently
better adapted to weak and debilitated
constitutions than any other Cathartic in
use.

powders.
