assignee of Ethan Clark, shewing
that Henry Sadler, late of Camden county,
deceased, in his life time, together with
Ray Sands, of same county, to wit! on the
12th day of February 1816, being indebted
to the said Ethan, in the sum of eighteen
thousand one hundred and eighty dollars
for which they jointly and severally exe
cuted four promissory notes of said Ethan,
bearing said date, one of which was fot the
sum of four thousand two hundred dollars,
and payable !2!h Feb. 1817, one other for
the sum of four thousand seven hundred A
ten dollars, payable 12th Feb. 1818, one
other for four thousand four hundred and
ten dollars, payable 12th Feb. 1819, and
the 4ib and last note payable on the ltth
Feb. 1820, for the sum of four thousand
eight hundred and fifty dollars, together
making said snm of eighteen thousand one
hundred and eighty dollars—the better to
secure the payment of which sum of money
the said Henry Sadler, then in life, and
Ray Sands did on the ltth day of Fehroa
ry, 1818, mortgaged to said Ethan, all
that tract or parcel - of land on Crooked
Creek in said county, called Greenfield
plantation, containing twenty three hun
dred and twenty five acres, more or less,
originally granted to Dr. David Oliphant.
beginning at a stake at Crooked Creek,
running south 89° west 155 chains by
land of John Clark and others, thence
south I“ east I5U rhaies to the lands of
James Moore, thence by the same land now
nr late of the estate of Samuel Brail-ford,
thence by the tame to the place of begin
ning—tod also one undivided fifth part of
a tract o(land, situated on. or near St Ma
rys rirer, in the county aforesaid called
and known hy the name of flatfish Tract,
containing in the whole seven thousand
five hundred acres more or less—and also
forty one negro slaves thereiu enumerated,
with the conditions that the said money

mortgage should not be foreclosed, until
