AN ACT
T O provide for the call of a Conven
tion to reduce the number of the
General Assembly uf the State of Geor
gia. and tor other purpose therein named
lit it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the State of Georgia m
General Assembly met, and it is finely en
acted by the authority of the same\ Thai
the first Monday in April, eighteen hun
dred and thirty three, be, and the same is
hereby designated and set apart.as the day
on which tne citiV.cn* ot'Oeo'rgia qualified
to vote for members of the Legislature,
shall at the several places prescribed by
law for holding such elections vote for
delegates to represent them in Convention
in numbet equal to tliQir representation
in both branches of the General Assembly;
such elections to be conducted, managed
and certified under the same laws as art
of force in respect to elections of the Gen
eral Assembly.
. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That
it shall be the duty of such manager- to
transmit4o his Excellency the Governor

soluble on the first Monday in May after

for the purpose of enteriug upon and con
summating the great objects ol' (heir con
vention, to wit: a reduction and equaliza
tion oi the General Assembly; ahull have
power to prescribe their own rules and
forms-o> business, and to determine on the
qualification* of (heir own members, elect
ucceasary olficcrs, and make all . order*
which they may deem conducive to the
furtherance of the object for which such
Convention shall assemble.
Sec 6. And be it further enacted, That

Governor to give publicity to the alteiu-
lions and amendments made in the Con
stitution iu reference to the direction [re-
ductiunl of the number ol the members
composing the General Assembly, and
the first Monday iu October next, utter
the rising of th said Convention, he shall
fix on for the ratification, by the people,
ofstich amendments, alterations, or new
articles as they may make for the objects
of reduction and equalization of the Gen
eral assembly only t aud if ratified by a
majority of the voters who vote on -the
question of ••Ratification' 1 or “No Ratifi
cation,” then and in ihai event, the altera
tion* xo by them made and ratified, shall
be biuding on the people of (his State and
not otherwise.
Sec. 7. And be it further enacted. That
it shali be a fundamental article in the
formation or ameodment of the Constitu
tion, that each county of the State now
oiganized or laid out, or which may here
after be created by law, shall be entitled
to at least one representative in the re
presentative branch of the General Assetn-
Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, That
so soon as this act shall have become a

published in the Gazettes of this Mtatc,
once a week until the day fixed on by this
act for the election of delegates to said
