T O provide for the call of a Conven
tinn to reduce the number of the
General Assembly of the State of Geor
gia, and lor other purpose therein named
He it enacted by the Senate and Houle of
Represtnlalivtk of the State ofUtoigiu in
General assembly met, andit is lie,tby en-
acted by Hu authority of the tume, 'That
the first Monday in April, eighteen hun
dred and thirty three, be, and the same is
hereby designated and set apart as the day
on which the citizen. ol'Oifurgia-qualifieij
to vote for members of the Legislature,
shall at the several places prescribed by
law for holding such election* vote fe r
delegates to represent i hem in Convention
in ouinbet equal to their representation
in both branches oftlie Geueral Assembly;
such elections to be conducted, managed
and certified under the same laws as gre
of force in respect to elections of the Geo •
•ra! Assembly.
Sec. 8. And hr it further enacted. That
it shall be the duty of such manager, to
transmit to Ills Excellency the Governor
the fpsultolsaid elections under the laws
now of force for conducting, managing
and certifying elections for members of
the General Aasmnldv a. aforesaid, with
in thirty days aftersuch elections. Where
upon it is made the doty of His Excellen
cy tlie Governor to issue his proclamation
declaring the resell of eaid elections by
naming the individuals severally elected
to represent the good people of Georgia

Sec. 4. And be itfurther enacted, Tha
each member returned as duly elected,
shall previous to taking his seat in said
Convention, take the following oath, or
affirmation,viz; I, A. B do solemnly swear,
that I will not attempt to add to, or take
from the constitution or attempt to change
or alter any other section, clause or arti
cle of the constitution of the State of
Georgia, other than those touching the
representation in the General Assembly
thereof; and that! have been a citizen of
this state for the last seven years, so help
me God. And any person elected to a
seat in said Convention, who shall refuse
to take the oath aforesaid, shall not be al
lowed to take liis scat in said Convention.
Sec. 5. And be it furtherenacted, That
he members of said Convention shall as
it mble on the first Monday in May after
heir election, at Millcdgeville, in th* Re
presentative Chamber of the Stale House,
for the purpose of entering upou and con
summating the great objects of their con
vention, to wit: a reduction and equaliza
tion ol tlie General Assembly; shall have
power to prescribe their own rules and
forms o business, and to determine on the
qualifications of their own members; elect
neceasary officers, and make all orders
which they may deem conducive lo the
furtherance of the object for which such
Convention shall assemble.
Sec 6. And bt it further enacted, That
it shall be the duty of His Excellency tha
Governor to give publicity to the altera
tions and amendments made in the Con
stitution in reference to the direction [re
duction] of the number of the members
composing the General Assembly, and
the first Monday in October next, after
the rising of th 'said Convention, he shall
fix on for the ratification, by the people,
ofsuch amendments, alterations, or new
articles as they may make for the object*
