T O provide for the call of a Conven
tion to reduce the oumber of the
General Assembly of the State of Geor
gia, and (or other purpose therein named
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representative* of the State of Georgia in
General Assembly met, andit is heieby en
acted by the authority of the same t That
the first Monday in April, eighteen hun
dred and thirty three, be, and the same is
hereby designated and set apart as the day
on which the citizens of Georgia qualified
to vote for members of the Legislature,
shall at the several places prescribed by
law for holding such elections vote for
delegates to represent (hem in Convention
in number eaua! to their representation
in both branches of the General Assembly;
such elections to be conducted, managed
and certified under the same laws as are
of force in respect to elections of the Gen
eral Assembly.
Sen. 2. And be it further enacted, That
it shall be the duty of such -manager* to
transmit to his Excellency the Governor
the tesultnl said elections nnder the laws
now of force for conducting, managing
and certifying elections for meiqbers of
the General Assembly as aforesaid, with

every citizen of the United States shall be
eligible to a seat io said Convention who
has attained the age of twenty-five years,
and been an inhabitant of this State seven
years immediately preceding the day oif
his election, and who ahull have resided
one year in the county for which he shall
be elected.
Thrt
each member returned as duly elected,
shall previous to taking his scat in said
Convention, take the following oath, or
affirination.viz; 1, A. B. do solemnly swear,
that I will not attempt to add to, or take
from the constitution or attempt to change
or alter any other section, clause or arti
cle of tho constitution ol the State of
Georgia, other than those touching the
representation iu the General Assembly
thereof; and that! have been a citizen of
this state for the last seven years, so help
me God. Ami any persou elected to a
seat in said Convention, who shall rOfuse
to take the oath aforesaid, shall not be al
lowed to take bit seal in said Convention
Sec. 5. And be itfu'thrrenaeted. That
the members of aaid Convention shall as
semble on the first Monday in May after
their election, at Milledgeville, in in Re
presentative Chamber of the State House,
for the purpose of enteripg upon nod con
summating the great objects of their con
vention, to-wit: a reduction and equaliza
tion of the General Assembly; shall have
power to prescribo ilieir own rules and
forms o business, and to determine on the
qualifications of their own members; elect
uccca«ary officers, and make all orders
which they ma> deem conducive to the
furtherance of the object for which such
Convention shall assemble.
Sec B. And be it further enacted, That
it shall bo the duty of llis Excellcocythe
Governor to give publicity to the altera
tions and amendments made in the Con
stitution iii reference to tlie direction [re
duction! of the number of the members
composing the General Assembly, and,
the first Monday in October next, after
the rising oflh •said Convention, he shall
fix on for the ratification, by the. people,
ofsuch amendments, alterations, or new
articles as they may make for the objects
of reduction and equalization of the.Gcn-
eral assembly only : and if ratified by a
majority of the voters who vote on the
question of “Ratification” or “No Ratifi

formation or amendment of the Constitu
tion, that each county of the State now
otganized or laid out,or which may here

presentatire branch of the General Assem
bly.
Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, That
