at the late Election.
Tune—"HUNTERS OF KENTUCKY,”
I ’spt.se you’ve heard how gloriously,
The filth October ended,
How nobly triumphed the trood cause,
For which wo all contended ;
How at the setting of the sun,
When Union hearts were sanguine,
The news was heard, that we had won,
Which turned their-joy to chagrin,
Chorus—Well done old Liberty, huzza !

At the opening of these cases by the Custom
House officer, the Secretary of tlie Anti-Slavery
Society, Mr. Wright, expressed himself highly
■offended. “What right have you to open the
box?” “I have a right.” replied the spirited offi
cer, “to open every case that passes here—I have
examined that box, aud I have marked it “Incen

We further learn, and we challenge contra
diction, that tho Anti-Slavery Society had sever
al secret prayer meetings—thatthey have agreed
to reprint and circulate the principal portions of
these British publications, that they have made
overtures to purchase the aid ofthe Evening Post,
by a promiseof patronage, and that the editor of
tho Evening Post has consented—thatthey have
already giuen the proprietor ofthe Sun money
to aid their cause through his neper, and thalthe
Sun Is purchased body and soul to facilitate the
* cause of the British fanatics und amalgamators.
Thus has tlie Earning Post, notwithstanding
theloud vaunts of its editor, been purchased up
by a foreign faction to aid in the dismemberment
of the United States, and its recent course has
been adopted in consequence of that purohase.—
The approaching Anti-Slavery State Conven
tion is the first grand movement of this new con
federacy.

You know how bold the Union folks,
Ilavebrag’d tlie two post summers,—
They gave their dinners, drank their grog,
They had their fifes and drummers;
They told it too at Taylor’s crc ,
We’d Nullify at pleasure,
The.i take their horses, hogs and corn,
And sell them at our leisure.
Well done old Liberty, die. Ate,
Nor was this all—they loudly cry’d,
We’d break the Constitution,
Then down with Jackson, and proscribe,
Those friendly to the Union;
(But all was false,) for none do more,
Our happy Union cherish,
But with it, give us Liberty,
And he who strikes, shall perish.
Well done old Liberty, &c. Ac.
All would’nt do, for we were true,
Net daunted, nor astounded,
Because, an ass at times, we knew,
Would bray when he’s confounded;
And so good folks, though once deceived,
The people’s eyes are open,
Old Liberty's licrsclf again,
We want no hotter token.
Well done old Liberty, Ac. &c.
Then quake not Union brother now,
Nor be in trepidation,
No civil war we mean, nor no
Disunion of the nation;
No this we scorn, then jam with us,
Our cuttse is that 6f Freedom,
We’ll pledge pur fortunes, honour, lives.
For State Rights, let what will come.
