This Elixir may be adopted in all those eases
in which either Opium or its preparation* me
iidniioistored, with the certainly of obtaining oil
their sedative, anodyne and anti-spasmodic «0
feels, without any ol these disagreeable conse
quences, of hoachache, nausea. vomiting, con,
siipatton, tremors, nnd a train of oilier unhappy
symptoms, winch are often as distressing as
those which it was applied to remove.
The Elixir ufOpimn is not only superior to
tho artificial compounds of Morphine, in its be*
ing mme mild, permanent and uniform in its ef
fects, hut the preparation possesses also a supe*
ri ir advantage in ihcir Solutions, in not being
liable to decomposition or deterioration from
variable toinpcraiuro or long keeping: a sorb
oils objection to which the latter are exposed.
Finally, Morphine, not being tho full tepia
■en’ative of Opium, cannot alone, nnd that io
artificial combination too, produce ull tho eltai*
acterislic effect* of so triumphal a remedy, when
m> many of its oilier vnlable principlea'a* Codsio,
Narccin and Meconic acid aro excluded.
TESTIMONIALS.
From Dr. Chilton, tho eminent Chemist of New
York, in proof of tho accomplishment of this
discovery.
Dr, John B. McMunu having made known
to me llio process by which ho propares his
Elixir of Opium,” and wishing me to slate my
opinion concerning it, I therefore say, that the
>wcc*« is in accordance with well known
Chemical laws, and that tho preparation must
contain nil the valuable principles of Opium,
without those which are considered aa deleter t-
ousand useless.
