Tho Elixir ofOpium is not only tupetior to
the artificial compounds of Morphitio, in its bo*
ing mote mild, permanent and uniform in its of-
feds, but tho preparation possesses also a nupe*
rior advantage to their Solutions, in not being
liable to decomposition or deterioration from
variublo temperature or long keeping! a sorb
oils objection to which the latter are exposed.
Finally. Morphine, not boing the full repro
setimtivo of Opium, cannot alone, nnd that in
artificial combination too, produce all tho chat*
ucteristic otibcis of so triumpliat a rotuody, when
so many of its oilier valnhle piinciples'asCodeiu,
Narccinand Moronic aci.l aro excluded.

shall compose a quorum for the transaction of

ever a vacancy shall occur in the said board, by
