paralions, cannot be ignorant of tbo fact that its
distressing nnd pernicious effects result from the
operation ofitv deleterious principles, nnd that
the tremors languor nnd lassitude withivhich its
devotees are afflicted, sad liir which iliuy repeat
the dose to re!iovc,are sensation* of its owner oa>
tion.
But in consequence of tho exclusion of thoso
deleterious principles from the Elixir of Opium
it is not liable to derungo the functions of the
system, nor injure the constitution and general

To a child a month old, or younger, give from
half a drop too drop; to a child about six mouths
old, from 3 to 10 drops; nnd to adults, from 10
to 60 drop*, (nnd even double or treble dial
much,if the pain and othersymptioin* be severe
and urgent) mitedi n two or three ten spoonfuls
of water, according to the size of (he dose. As
the administration of every medicine should bo
