lecturer contended, owed a heavy debt lo the Puri*
tans and tho Iriends of > romwoll. Ho not only
•ympalhized with them, but admired their devoted
patriotism aud resoluto resistance against civil and
roligmus oppression.
The lecture, altogether, was a learned and able
production,evincing much ruaearch and great pow*
era of arrangement and combination. Having
grouped together the leading events which preced
•d the Commonwealth, nnd produced, as it wore,
Cromwell, tho chief actor in tho bioody drama
