circumstance to notice, and that gratification is

in the military or naval service of the United
State* during any of tho wars in which this coun
try has been engaged since 1790, is not entitled to
bounty land uuder the act of March, 3, 1355, if he
was not at tho seat of war.

dore Charles S. McCauley has been selected for
the temporary command of iho Home Squadron.—
Commodore McCauley entered the Navy as a
