py We learn that efforts are being made to
raiee the necesaary moana to build a German Lu
theran Church in this city, in which the service
will be conducted in the German languago. A
congregation waa organized some time since,
through tho efforts ol the Rev. Mr. Epping, but
being without a suitable edifice, they haro boon
compelled to avail ihctnaelves of tho kindness of
Dr. Preston's congregation, and to meet in tho
Lecture Room attached to the Independent Proa-

city for the now edifice, and aa it ia not proposed
to orect a costly building, and tho congregation is
free from debt, persona who feci disposed to lend a
helping hand, now, need not fear they will bo called
upon for future assistance. Liberal contributions
have already been made by gentlemen in Savan
nah and Charleston. The sum raised, however, is
not sufficient for tho purpose, and an opportunity
will be presented to others to subscribe.
8^ While we regret to part with tho Rev.
James D. Gibson, who haa been in this city some
months put assisting Bishop Elliott, wo are glad
to learn that he hu received and accepted a call

A population of about 2000wouls, and is situated in
the northern part of the Slate, in the midrt oi a

just been organised there, and a handsome church

the following officers were elected : “Vestry—W.
