Brownson’s Review.—We percoivo that tho
Democratic organs, all over the country, nre ta
king special pains to let their readers know that
this organ of the Pope has been removed to Now
York. This is the same Journal, whose editor
declared, a few month* ago, “The Pope is the
proper Authority to decide for mo, whether tho
constitution "I this country is, or is not, repugnant
to the laws ol God”—and, as a necessary conse

Jatan—Bftudution or tu Tbsatt with the
United States.—It will be soon, from tho foreign
intelligence which we publish to-day, that difficul
ties have ariaeu between our merchants and the
authoriliss of Japan, the Governor of Simoda hav
ing isausd hia proclamation, denying the right ol
Americans to reside io Japan, except in cases of
shipwreck or distress. Tnis measure haa created
great dissatisfaction and much damage to our bu-
sinssa mon, who want out to extend their opera
tions in that quarter, and is alleged to be in di.ect
violation of our treaty recently entered into with
Japan. If such be the fact, our government may
have to resell to unpleasant mensuros t compel n

At the same time, it ia due to justice to say that
the treaty ia fairly susceptible ot tho interpretation

Americans to open stores nt Simoda, tho work

Pennsylvania U. S. Senator.—Hon. John L.
Dawson, and Col. J. W. Forney, tho present Clerk

which havo appeared, from timo to timo, in the

ms ruddered to thu South and to the Union—to t he

not unlrequently by fastening upon Northern men
tho conviction of the mischief of their interference
in the affairs of their slavoholding brethren. Nor

ducing Its price from 95 to 83, thereby putting it
